‘Terrorist Attack’
The head of the Intelligence Organization of the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC), Brigadier General Seyed Majid Khademi, was killed in a strike in Tehran early Monday, according to Iranian media, including Tasnim and Press TV.
In a statement, the IRGC Public Relations Department said Khademi was killed in what it described as a “terrorist attack” carried out by US and Israeli forces.
The statement said Khademi had served for nearly five decades in Iran’s intelligence and security institutions, playing a central role in countering foreign operations and safeguarding national security.
Later in the day, Israeli officials confirmed responsibility for the assassination.
Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz said he had been briefed on the strike during a security assessment with Chief of Staff Eyal Zamir.
The killing is part of a series of targeted assassinations against Iranian military and intelligence figures since the start of the military aggression on February 28.
Khademi’s Role and Legacy
The IRGC described Khademi as a senior figure whose work had significantly shaped Iran’s intelligence capabilities.
According to the statement, his efforts contributed to confronting foreign “infiltration” and destabilization attempts targeting Iran.
The IRGC said his role would remain influential for the country’s intelligence community in the years ahead.
The assassination comes amid ongoing US-Israeli military aggression targeting Iranian territory, including strikes on military and civilian infrastructure.
Iran has responded with waves of missile and drone attacks targeting Israeli sites and US-linked positions across the region.
Iranian officials reiterated that such actions would not alter the country’s strategic course, emphasizing continued retaliation and defense of national sovereignty.
