Hezbollah reports direct strike on Israeli warship offshore, as cross-border attacks escalate and Israeli officials acknowledge resilience of resistance.
Key Developments
- Hezbollah says it struck Israeli warship 68 nautical miles off Lebanon coast.
- Dozens of operations launched against Israeli positions and troops.
- Israeli military acknowledges being “surprised” by Hezbollah’s capabilities.
Hezbollah Says Warship Targeted Offshore
Hezbollah announced that its fighters targeted an Israeli warship early Sunday, approximately 68 nautical miles off the Lebanese coast, according to the Lebanese news platform Al Mayadeen.
The group said the vessel was preparing to carry out attacks on Lebanese territory when it was struck at 00:05 using a naval cruise missile after hours of surveillance.
Hezbollah confirmed a direct hit, describing the operation as part of its ongoing response to Israeli attacks on Lebanese cities, infrastructure, and civilians.
The statement referenced remarks by former Secretary-General Hassan Nasrallah during the 2006 war, when he announced the targeting of an Israeli Sa’ar-class warship.
Large-Scale Military Options
Hezbollah said it resumed large-scale military operations early Sunday as part of its ongoing campaign, Devoured Straw, targeting Israeli military sites, positions, and troop gatherings.

The group reported carrying out 42 operations on Saturday alone, including strikes on Israeli positions inside occupied territories and along the Lebanese border.
Additional attacks announced early Sunday included rocket strikes on Israeli troop concentrations in Ainata and near the settlement of Malikiya.
Hezbollah also said it launched drone attacks targeting the Zar’it barracks shortly after midnight.
Unexpected Resilience
Israeli media reported growing concern within the military over Hezbollah’s sustained operational capacity.
According to Channel 12, Northern Command chief Major General Ravil Milo said in a closed-door meeting that the military had been “surprised” by Hezbollah’s ability to rebuild its strength following earlier confrontations.
The report suggested that previous Israeli assessments that Hezbollah had been significantly weakened were “overly optimistic,” with officials now acknowledging the group’s continued presence and operational effectiveness.
The latest developments come as cross-border exchanges intensify, with Hezbollah continuing to target Israeli military positions and settlements, while Israel maintains airstrikes across southern Lebanon.
The reported naval strike would mark a significant escalation in the maritime dimension of the confrontation, recalling similar incidents during the 2006 war.
