Digital display screens at multiple Israeli bus stops were hijacked in an unprecedented cyber-attack.
The sophisticated electronic intrusion targeting bus station information screens across several Israeli cities, including Ashdod, Ramat Gan, and Modi’in, has resulted in a public scare.
The compromised screens interrupted scheduled travel updates to display and broadcast Arabic chants, Quranic verses, and an audio message strongly resembling the voice of Abu Obeida, the spokesperson for the Izz ad-Din al-Qassam Brigades.
The content included vows of retaliation against Israeli aggressions across the occupied Palestinian territories.

Both Israeli media outlets and transportation authorities confirmed the incident, noting that the screens displayed takbirat (“Allahu Akbar”) and recorded clips, some of which reportedly mimicked warning sirens, escalating the sense of panic among passengers.
Channel 14 reported that the National Cyber Directorate was promptly notified and is treating the event as a suspected “cyber-attack of a nationalist nature.” The Ministry of Transportation has launched a formal investigation into the origin of the hack.
The event occurs amid lingering ambiguity surrounding the status of Abu Obeida following earlier unconfirmed Israeli reports of his death.
