Asian Parliamentary Assembly Declares Support for the Palestinian People

The Asian Parliamentary Assembly has voiced support and solidarity with the Palestinian people in a concluding statement issued following its 9th summit held in the Kingdom of Cambodia. The statement came in conjunction with the International Day of Solidarity with the Palestinian people.

Zuhair Sandoqua, Nayif Mhana, Imran Alkhatib of the Palestinian National Council took part in the summit.

The Palestinian delegation emphasized that the Israeli occupation of Palestine is the main obstacle to peace in the region.

The delegation noted that Israel continues on build illegal settlements on occupied Palestinian lands, steal their resources and agricultural areas.

The delegation highlighted what the Palestinian people go through in terms of military occupation, siege, the killing in cold blood, imprisonment and torture of thousands of Palestinian prisoners in Israeli jails.

The Asian Parliamentary Assembly was founded in 2006 and it includes 40 Asian parliaments and 18 observing members, It aims at achieving and supporting peace efforts in Asia by strengthening ties between member states.
