The body of Palestinian prisoner Yasser Hamdouni, 40, from the town of Yabad in Jenin will be buried today after his body was handed over to his family via Aljalamieh checkpoint near Jenin yesterday.

Hamdouni died of a stroke two days ago while in Israeli custody. The autopsy conducted at Abukbeer Autopsy Center in Jerusalem was requested by an Israeli court and showed that Hamdouni died after swelling occurred on his heart.

The Prisoners Affairs Body said that Hamdouni was a victim of medical negligence.

He suffered from heart condition and underwent open-heart surgery at Alafoula hospital in Israel, yet was not provided with the needed medication to recover thereafter.

Hamdouni, a father of two, spent fourteen years of his life sentence in Israeli prisons. An official funeral will take place in his town to honor his sacrifice for his country, according to The Prisoners Affairs Body.
