At least 48 Palestinians were killed in Israeli attacks over 24 hours, as Gaza’s health officials warn of an unprecedented famine killing hundreds, including nearly 100 children.
Sources in Gaza hospitals reported that at least 48 Palestinians were killed by Israeli occupation forces in various parts of the Gaza Strip over the past 24 hours. Meanwhile, the Al-Qassam Brigades and the Al-Quds Brigades announced that they had targeted Israeli positions with rockets and mortar shells.
The Ministry of Health in Gaza said that starvation caused by the ongoing Israeli blockade has reached unprecedented levels, with the death toll from famine and malnutrition rising to 212, including 98 children.
Al-Jazeera reported that Israeli bombardment of the Al-Zaytoun neighborhood destroyed multiple buildings.
A medical source at Al-Shifa Hospital in Gaza City said nine Palestinians were killed and 180 others, including children, were wounded when Israeli forces targeted civilians seeking aid near the Zikim area in northern Gaza. Doctors at the hospital reported that several victims had sustained gunshot wounds to the chest and head, arriving in critical condition.

Al-Awda Hospital reported that a child, Muhannad Zakaria Eid, was killed when an airdropped aid box fell on him west of the Nuseirat camp in central Gaza. According to the Gaza Government Media Office, the number of fatalities caused by airdropped aid since the start of the war has reached 23.
The office said that delivering aid into occupied areas exposes civilians to direct targeting, holding Israel — and the United States backing it — fully responsible for what it called the “engineering of starvation and chaos.” It demanded that humanitarian aid be delivered safely and adequately via land crossings.
‘Famine Engineering’
The Director General of the Palestinian Ministry of Health in Gaza, Dr. Munir al-Barsh, warned that the 11 deaths from starvation recorded within 24 hours are a “dangerous indicator,” adding that Israel’s policy has shifted from starvation to “famine engineering.”
He said that in recent days, Gaza has received less than 5% of its basic needs, amid the collapse of the health system.
Dr. Mohammed Abu Salmiya, Director of Al-Shifa Medical Complex, said famine rates are rising, with starvation and malnutrition weakening immunity among children, women, and the elderly.
Yasser Shaaban, Medical Director of Al-Awda Hospital in Nuseirat, said around 80% of children admitted to the facility are suffering from severe malnutrition. He warned that shortages of medicine and medical supplies pose a grave threat to the health sector in Gaza.
American physician Mark Browner, who recently returned from Gaza, described the humanitarian situation as “horrific in every sense of the word.” Speaking to Al Jazeera, Browner said the threat of death from starvation now affects all residents of Gaza, not only children and infants.
Resistance Operations
The Al-Qassam Brigades, the armed wing of Hamas, said its fighters shelled an Israeli command and control center on Al-Surani Hill in the Al-Tuffah neighborhood east of Gaza City.
The Al-Quds Brigades, the armed wing of Islamic Jihad, released footage of its fighters launching a Quds-3 missile toward the Nir Am settlement in the Gaza Envelope, saying it was in retaliation for what it called the desecration and storming of Al-Aqsa Mosque.
OIC, GCC, Arab League Reject Israel’s Plan to Fully Occupy Gaza
These developments come after the Israeli government approved a phased plan to occupy the entire Gaza Strip. The first stage involves the takeover of Gaza City, the displacement of nearly one million residents to the south, encirclement of the city, and subsequent incursions into its neighborhoods.
Hamas said the plan is a “criminal adventure” that will be costly for Israel, will not be “a walk in the park,” and will ultimately fail. Islamic Jihad reiterated its commitment to continue defending the Palestinian people alongside other resistance factions.
Since October 2023, Israel — with American support — has waged a war on the Gaza Strip that Palestinian and international reports describe as genocidal. The conflict has killed more than 61,000 Palestinians, wounded over 152,000, and displaced almost the entire population of Gaza, amid destruction described as unprecedented since World War II.
