According to official Palestinian figures, Israel has carried out 1,014 demolitions across the occupied West Bank, including East Jerusalem, since October 2023.

Israeli occupation forces fired stun grenades and tear gas at Palestinians as they carried out the demolition of a residential building housing nearly 100 people in the Silwan neighborhood, south of occupied Jerusalem, on Monday.

According to witnesses cited by the Anadolu news agency, Israeli municipal workers brought down the 13-apartment building in the Wadi Qadum neighborhood on claims of lacking a building permit.

Police forces assaulted Palestinians to keep them away from the site, they added.

Two Detained during Demolition

An Al-Jazeera correspondent reported that occupation forces arrested a young Palestinian man and a boy during the demolition operation in the neighborhood.

According to the Colonization and Wall Resistance Commission, an official body cited by Anadolu, Israel has carried out 1,014 demolitions across the occupied West Bank, including East Jerusalem, since October 2023. These demolitions have affected 3,679 structures, including 1,288 inhabited homes, 244 uninhabited homes, and 962 agricultural facilities.

Farmland Destroyed

In the northern West Bank, an Al Jazeera correspondent reported that occupation forces destroyed agricultural land and uprooted trees in the town of Silat al-Harithiya. Israeli occupation forces, with a large number of military vehicles, stormed neighborhoods in the city of Halhul, north of Hebron (al-Khalil), and established positions there, deploying sniper teams in its streets, the report stated.

According to the Quds News Network (QNN), illegal Israeli Jewish settlers placed barriers in roads to block Palestinian farmers from reaching their farmlands near the town of Sa’ir, in the southern West Bank.

Al Jazeera’s correspondent also reported that the occupation forces entered Halhul through several checkpoints, including the Nabi Yunis checkpoint, and deployed in several locations, most notably the Al-Mamas and Al-Hawawir areas. They also closed the Halhul Bridge checkpoint, which connects Halhul to the city of Hebron.

The official Palestinian news agency WAFA reported that Israeli occupation forces raided on Monday several villages northeast of Ramallah and al-Bireh Governorate. This included the villages of al-Mughayyir, Abu Falah, and Kafr Malik, northeast of Ramallah. No arrests were reported.
