  • The decision comes amid intensified Israeli measures in occupied East Jerusalem.

Israeli Ban on Palestinian Media Platforms

Israeli occupation authorities have ordered the removal of five Palestinian media platforms and accounts, accusing them of incitement in their coverage of Israeli actions in occupied East Jerusalem.

According to Anadolu News Agency, Israel’s Ministry of Defense announced on Monday that it had banned five Palestinian media outlets and social media accounts, citing their reporting on Israeli security operations and enforcement activities in the city as grounds for removal.

The platforms targeted are Alasima News, M3raj Network, Al-Quds Albawsala Network, Maydan Al-Quds, and Plus Quds Network.

The ministry claimed that the content constituted “incitement,” a charge frequently leveled by Israeli officials against Palestinian journalists and media organizations.

The targeted platforms include both established outlets and individual journalists who have been documenting Israeli raids, settler violence, and enforcement measures in East Jerusalem’s predominantly Palestinian neighborhoods.

Israeli occupation authorities ordered internet service providers and social networking companies to block access to the specified accounts, effectively silencing their voices on widely used digital platforms.

Press Freedom Under Siege

The decision has been met with sharp criticism from Palestinian media groups and press freedom advocates for being part of a broader pattern of suppressing independent reporting under occupation.

Quds News Network reported that the Palestinian Journalists Syndicate and other press freedom organizations condemned the ban as an attack on free expression and a violation of fundamental rights.

Representatives warned that targeting media platforms for their coverage of on-the-ground realities undermines transparency and accountability in a context already marked by restricted access for international and local reporters.

Media watchdogs also highlighted that such measures contribute to a climate of fear among journalists working in occupied East Jerusalem, where reporting on protests, raids, and settler violence is increasingly subjected to legal and administrative pressures.

The ban comes amid heightened tensions in East Jerusalem, including recent confrontations between Israeli occupation forces, illegal Israeli Jewish settlers, and Palestinian residents. Palestinian journalists have played a key role in documenting these developments, often at personal risk.
