Hamas has submitted its response to Trump’s Gaza ceasefire plan, signaling readiness for prisoner release and governance transition.
The Palestinian Resistance Movement Hamas has submitted its response to mediators concerning US President Donald Trump’s plan to end the war in the Gaza Strip and achieve what he described as “peace” in the region.
In a statement, Hamas said it had carried out “extensive consultations to reach a responsible position” on the plan, motivated by its desire to stop Israeli aggression.
The movement declared its readiness to release all prisoners — both living and deceased — in line with Trump’s proposal, and expressed its “immediate” willingness to engage in mediated negotiations to discuss the details.
The group also reiterated its acceptance of handing over the administration of the Gaza Strip to a Palestinian body composed of independents, based on national consensus with Arab and Islamic support.

It stressed, however, that matters concerning Gaza’s future and Palestinian rights must be addressed within a broader national framework.
“As for other issues mentioned in President Trump’s proposal related to the future of the Gaza Strip and the authentic rights of the Palestinian people, these are linked to a comprehensive national position based on relevant international laws and resolutions,” the statement read, adding that they “will be discussed through a comprehensive Palestinian national framework in which Hamas will participate and contribute responsibly.”
On Thursday, Hamas Political Bureau member Mohammed Nazzal confirmed that the movement would announce its stance on the US plan “very soon,” underscoring Hamas’ seriousness in pursuing understandings aimed at halting the war and genocide in Gaza.

Speaking to Al-Jazeera, he said the response “will not be delayed,” and emphasized that Hamas would not accept threats or dictates.
Nazzal reaffirmed that the movement is committed to the principle that “time is blood,” and is determined to stop the massacres before they enter a third year. He acknowledged that while Trump’s plan contained “many caveats,” Hamas was exploring “gray areas” that might allow a path toward ending the genocide in Gaza.
Earlier in the day, President Trump gave Hamas until 6 PM Washington time on Sunday to submit its response. On Truth Social, he claimed the deal would “save the lives of all remaining Hamas fighters,” warning that it represented a last chance and threatening that in case of rejection, “all HELL, like no one has ever seen before, will break out against Hamas.”
