Iran Reports Hundreds of Casualties
Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) announced Sunday that its strikes on American bases across the region resulted in approximately 560 US military personnel killed or injured.
The statement, issued as part of Operation “True Promise 4,” said the seventh and eighth waves of missile and drone attacks targeted American and Israeli facilities in response to what Tehran describes as joint US–Israeli aggression against Iran.
According to the IRGC, the strikes hit multiple US military sites, including Ali Al Salem base in Kuwait, maritime infrastructure connected to Mohammed Al-Ahmad base, and the US naval facility in Salman Port, Bahrain.
The statement also stated ballistic missile strikes on a residential compound housing US personnel in Bahrain, as well as attacks on oil tankers in the Gulf and the US aircraft carrier Abraham Lincoln.
Iran said ambulance activity and emergency movements inside US facilities indicate heavy losses and operational disruption.

Washington Confirms Limited Losses
US Central Command (CENTCOM), in contrast, confirmed the deaths of three American soldiers and serious injuries to five others during what it described as ongoing operations against Iran.
The US acknowledged additional minor injuries, including concussions and shrapnel wounds, and stated that some personnel are returning to duty.
A CENTCOM spokesperson rejected Iranian claims of hundreds of casualties, describing earlier Iranian figures as false. Washington has declined to release further details, citing ongoing combat activity and standard procedures regarding notification of families.

Our Strategic Assessment
Neither the Iranian nor the American casualty figures can be independently verified at this stage. However, given the scale of Iranian bombardment described across several bases and maritime targets, it is difficult to assume that the US numbers represent the complete picture.
Washington may be employing a tactic long associated with Israeli military strategy: limiting disclosure of casualties during active conflict.
Such a strategy serves two key objectives:
First, it minimizes domestic backlash. High casualty numbers can rapidly shift public opinion, particularly in wars that appear open-ended or geographically expanding. Controlling casualty information helps contain political pressure at home.
Second, underreporting losses prevents adversaries from claiming psychological victory. Acknowledging heavy casualties can embolden the opposing side, strengthen its narrative of deterrence, and shift regional perceptions of momentum.
Israel has historically managed casualty disclosures cautiously during prolonged military operations. If the United States is adopting a similar approach, it would reflect an understanding that perception management is integral to modern warfare.
At the same time, Tehran may be overstating figures to amplify the appearance of impact and resilience.
Israel Paralyzed as Iran Launches Successive Missile Waves, Strikes US Bases
In contemporary conflict, casualty statistics are not merely records of loss; they are instruments of strategic communication.
As the war continues, the true scale of losses may only emerge gradually. For now, the stark divergence between Iranian and American accounts underscores how information control has become a battlefield of its own.
