Key Developments

  • Israeli strike on vehicle in Gaza City kills journalist Mohammed Washah and another Palestinian.
  • Number of Palestinian journalists killed rises to 262 since start of genocide in Gaza.
  • Palestinian and official bodies condemn systematic targeting of journalists and hold Israel and allies responsible.

Two Palestinians, including journalist Mohammed Washah, were killed on Wednesday in an Israeli strike targeting a vehicle on Al-Rashid Street, west of Gaza City.

Local sources confirmed that Washah was assassinated in a strike on a vehicle in the Sheikh Ajleen area.

The Israeli army had previously incited against the Al Jazeera Mubasher correspondent, accusing him of affiliation with Hamas, Quds News Network reported.

With his killing, the number of Palestinian journalists killed by Israeli forces has risen to 262 since the start of the genocide in Gaza.

The Government Media Office in Gaza condemned the systematic targeting of journalists and called on international media bodies, including the International Federation of Journalists and the Arab Journalists Union, to denounce these crimes.

It held the Israeli occupation, the US administration, and countries supporting the genocide, including the United Kingdom, Germany, and France, fully responsible, QNN reported.

The Palestinian Journalists’ Bloc said the killing was a deliberate assassination, not an isolated incident, noting that Washah had been subjected to sustained incitement campaigns and was pursued until he was killed in cold blood.

Israeli forces continue daily violations of the ceasefire through bombardment and gunfire, killing 723 Palestinians and injuring 1,990 since the agreement came into effect.
