Israeli forces escalated their assault on Gaza City, destroying entire neighborhoods and killing scores, while famine deaths—including children—continue to mount under the ongoing genocide.

Israeli occupation forces continued their heavy bombardment of Gaza City neighborhoods on Monday, killing and wounding scores of Palestinians, Al-Jazeera reported.

Civil defense officials reported that more than 50 buildings were destroyed on Sunday alone, while hospitals confirmed that children continue to die from famine across the besieged enclave.

Medical sources said 21 Palestinians have been killed since dawn today, including 14 in Gaza City.

At Al-Shifa Medical Complex, doctors reported two deaths and several injuries following an Israeli strike on a residential apartment in the Al-Rimal area. Ambulance crews also recorded casualties in an attack on a house in the Yarmouk district.

Israeli warplanes renewed their bombardment of the Al-Jazeera Sports Club, where displaced families have taken shelter. The Palestinian Red Crescent said 15 people, including children, were injured. Israeli media reported that heavy shelling also struck the Al-Nasr and Sheikh Radwan neighborhoods.

On Sunday, an Israeli airstrike on Al-Farabi School, which houses displaced civilians, killed 11 Palestinians, among them children. The Civil Defense said more than 50 buildings were completely destroyed that day, with another 100 partially damaged, many of them high-rise residential towers.

Spokesman Mahmoud Basal stressed that the army deliberately targeted areas surrounded by tents, destroying more than 200 shelters for displaced people.

He added that what remains of Gaza City’s mosques and stadiums has also been struck, describing the attacks as part of Israel’s policy of forced displacement.

The destruction comes as the army continues what it calls “Operation Gideon’s Wagons 2,” aimed at demolishing residential blocks and occupying Gaza City.

Among the latest targets was the Al-Ru’ya residential building in Tel al-Hawa, southwest Gaza City, whose destruction displaced dozens of families. Elsewhere, video footage showed an Israeli drone bombing the minaret of a mosque in Deir al-Balah.

Meanwhile, Gaza’s Health Ministry announced that six people, including two children, died of starvation and malnutrition in the past 24 hours, bringing the total famine deaths to 393 since the UN declared famine in Gaza on August 22. Of these, 140 were children.

International organizations confirm that the humanitarian situation remains unchanged despite the declaration. Since October 2023, Israel—backed by the United States—has waged a war of extermination on Gaza, marked by mass killings, starvation, destruction, and forced displacement.

The genocide has so far claimed more than 64,000 lives and left 162,000 wounded, in defiance of international appeals and International Court of Justice orders.
