Israeli Raids on Occupied West Bank: Over 50 Palestinians Injured

Illegal Israeli Jewish settlers also escalated their attacks in the occupied West Bank.

Fifty-eight Palestinians, including a child and an elderly man, have been injured, some with live gunfire, during an Israeli raid in central Ramallah and al-Bireh in the occupied West Bank on Tuesday.

According to the Palestine Red Crescent Society (PRCS, cited by Al Jazeera Arabic, among the injured were seven who were hit by live bullets, six by rubber-coated metal bullets, three by shrapnel from live bullets, and five who suffered from suffocation due to tear gas.

In addition, the PRCS teams received a report of an injury near the vegetable market in Ramallah, but the occupation forces prevented paramedics from reaching the area and fired warning shots at them.

Al Jazeera cited witnesses as saying that an Israeli special force raided a money exchange office in the besieged area of ​​central Ramallah and al-Bireh before dispatching large military reinforcements. This led to clashes with dozens of Palestinians, in which the army used live ammunition and tear gas.

At Least Five Detained

Local sources reported that occupation forces arrested at least three Palestinians following the raid. A journalist’s vehicle was also fired at with rubber bullets.

Israeli forces climbed onto the roofs of several buildings and deterred participants in the National Day for the Recovery of the Bodies of slain Palestinians  held by Israeli authorities at the Baladna Center in al-Bireh, the official Palestinian news agency WAFA reported.

In the early hours of Tuesday, occupation forces stormed the city of Tubas and deployed in several neighborhoods, according to Al Jazeera Arabic.

Earlier on Monday evening, forces raided the village of Atouf and deployed infantry units inside. They also raided the outskirts of the town of Tamoun, southeast of Tubas.

In Ramallah, occupation forces arrested four Palestinians from the village of Deir Abu Mash’al, west of the city, at dawn, including two 15-year-old youths, after raiding homes and vandalizing  its contents.

Palestinians also suffered suffocation on Monday night when occupation forces raided the villages of Shuqba and Shibtin, and fired tear gas canisters at homes and residents.

Nablus, Qalqilya Raided

At dawn on Tuesday, Israeli occupation forces arrested six Palestinians in the city of Nablus after raiding and searching their homes, the report added.

Further south, Israeli occupation forces raided the village of Jouret al-Sham’a, south of Bethlehem, and raided a home. No arrests were reported.

In Qalqilya, Israeli occupation forces stormed the city from its eastern entrance on Monday evening and deployed in the neighborhoods of Kafr Saba, Sufin, al-Fateh Mosque, and al-Maslakh, firing sound bombs heavily. No arrests were reported.

In Tulkarm, Israeli occupation forces continued their ongoing assault on the city and its two refugee camps for the 211th consecutive day, storming the towns of Anabta and Zeita.

The forces raided shops on the main street and Al-Qahawi Street in Anabta, forcing some to close. They detained young men and interrogated them on the spot. In the town of Zeita, a foot force raided several homes and patrolled the streets.

Settler Attacks

Illegal Israeli settlers also escalated their attacks in the occupied West Bank.

On Monday evening, they opened fire on the outskirts of the town of Sinjil, north of Ramallah, targeting Palestinian local protection committees. Despite the heavy use of live ammunition, no injuries or damage were reported, according to Al Jazeera.

Israel Intensifies West Bank Raids as Illegal Settlers Construct New Outposts

According to the Wall and Settlement Resistance Commission, settlers carried out 466 attacks in the West Bank during July, resulting in the deaths of four Palestinians and the forced displacement of two Bedouin communities comprising 50 families. They also attempted to establish 15 new settlement outposts.

Abduction by Special Forces

An Israeli special force abducted former prisoner Imad Izzat Odeh from the center of Hebron (al-Khalil) on Tuesday, the report stated.

Al Jazeera cited WAFA as having reported that the special forces stormed a bank in the Al-Saha roundabout area and kidnapped Awda, under the protection of Israeli occupation force. They fired live ammunition and sound bombs to secure the operation.

This escalation in the West Bank coincides with Israel’s ongoing genocidal assault on the Gaza Strip since October 7, 2023, which has resulted in the killings of over 62,000 people.

In the West Bank, including East Jerusalem, the occupation forces have also killed at least 1,016 Palestinians, wounded nearly 7,000, and arrested more than 18,500.
