According to the Lebanese Health Ministry, at least 335 people have been killed and 973 injured in Israeli attacks since a ceasefire took effect on November 27 last year.

The Israeli army launched fresh airstrikes on the residential neighborhoods of two towns in south Lebanon on Thursday, shortly after issuing immediate evacuation orders for the residents.

The warplanes targeted the towns of Mahrouna in the Tyre district and Jbaa in the Iqlim al-Tuffah region, according to the Beirut-based news network Al Mayadeen.

The channel’s correspondent in the south reported that the strike on Jbaa destroyed a multi-story residential building located near a local infirmary. Several homes east of the town were damaged in addition to fires breaking out at the site.

An Israeli drone also dropped a stun grenade on the Naqoura shoreline earlier in the day, according to Al Mayadeen.

Israel Claims Hezbollah Sites Targeted

The Israeli army spokesperson Avichay Adraee claimed on X that the airstrikes targeted Hezbollah sites, in particular “weapon warehouses”.

Adraee earlier ordered residents of the two villages to immediately leave their homes ahead of the strikes, claiming that the attacks were in response to what he described as Hezbollah’s “prohibited attempts” to rebuild its activities in southern Lebanon.

An Israeli airstrike later hit al-Majadel in the Tyre district, followed by another raid on a building in Baraachit in the Bint Jbeil district, the report stated.

The Israeli army also issued an immediate evacuation order for residents of the Mjadel town in the Tyre district and the Baraachit town in Nabatieh.

There was no immediate comment from Hezbollah or Lebanese authorities on the Israeli attacks, Anadolu reported.

Over 300 Killed

According to the Lebanese Health Ministry, at least 335 people have been killed and 973 injured by Israeli fire since a ceasefire took effect on November 27, 2024, Anadolu reported. The UN peacekeeping mission (UNIFIL) also reported more than 10,000 Israeli air and ground violations.

Under the ceasefire, the Israeli army was supposed to withdraw from southern Lebanon this January but instead only partially pulled out and continues to maintain a military presence at five border outposts.
