US Official Links Lebanon to Proposed Iran Agreement
A senior US administration official said Friday that a proposed agreement between Washington and Tehran aimed at ending the war in West Asia would extend beyond Iran itself and include several regional actors.
“It includes Lebanon, it includes Iran, it includes the Gulf Coast countries, and includes Israel,” the official told AFP during a briefing with reporters.
The remarks came amid growing reports that negotiators are moving closer to a memorandum of understanding that could establish a framework for broader regional arrangements alongside discussions on Iran’s nuclear program and sanctions relief.
The official did not provide additional details regarding Lebanon’s specific role in the proposed agreement.
Lebanon Will Be Directly Affected
The US official’s comments were echoed by Lebanese MP Hassan Fadlallah, who argued that any future agreement between Iran and the United States would inevitably have consequences for Lebanon.
Speaking on Friday, Fadlallah said the Islamic Republic would insist on including the Lebanese file in any final agreement and described Tehran’s involvement as a source of support and strength for Lebanon in confronting ongoing Israeli aggression.
“The agreement, if reached, will reflect on Lebanon whether the government accepts it or not,” Fadlallah said.
According to the Hezbollah lawmaker, Washington would pursue its interests regardless of the position adopted by Lebanese authorities.
Fadlallah stressed that the Resistance maintains full confidence in Iran and rejected suggestions that Tehran’s role would come at the expense of Lebanese sovereignty.
He said Iranian involvement would instead provide an opportunity for the Lebanese state to benefit from a broader political process while continuing to manage domestic affairs independently.
Resistance, Not Surrender
Fadlallah also argued that Lebanon continues to face what he described as an existential threat resulting from ongoing Israeli attacks, particularly in southern Lebanon.
He maintained that resistance remains the only viable option for confronting Israeli aggression and warned against political proposals that, in his view, amount to surrender.
“The plausible option is to continue confronting, resisting, and remaining steadfast, no matter the pain, sacrifices, and costs,” he said.
Fadlallah claimed that surrender would ultimately leave parts of Lebanon under occupation and undermine the country’s sovereignty.
“Whoever among the Lebanese authorities wants to surrender, let them go alone,” he added. His remarks come as negotiations involving Iran, the United States and regional mediators continue amid growing speculation that a broader agreement could reshape political and security arrangements across the region.

ALL indications are that israel will be required to END all attacks inside Lebanon’s UN recognized borders and ALL attacks everywhere in Palestine….ALL attacks on IRAN and YEMEN and ALL attacks anywhere………….The trajectory of the Final Agreement essentially ENDS zionism, for without expansion israel CANNOT long survive as a zionist state………….israel is already boasting it will ignore the Agreement, but once it is approved as a UN BINDING Resolution, israel WILL be a voice crying in the wilderness……a loathed pariah…..and a failed ideological state !
