A cautious calm settled over the Gaza Strip after the Israeli Prime Minister’s Office announced early Friday morning that the government had officially ratified US President Donald Trump’s proposal to end the war and secure the release of detainees.

The Gaza Civil Defense urged residents not to return to areas previously occupied by Israeli forces until the withdrawal is officially declared complete.

Since October 7, 2023, Israel has killed 67,211 and injured 169,961 others, the majority of whom are women and children, according to the Palestinian Ministry of Health in Gaza.

Joint Statement by Hamas, Islamic Jihad, and the Popular Front on Gaza Agreement

AL-JAZEERA:

Hamas, Islamic Jihad, and the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine issued a joint statement:

“We value the efforts of Egypt, Qatar, and Turkey and call on them and Washington to ensure Israel’s compliance with the agreement.

We appreciate the global solidarity movement rejecting genocide and demanding accountability for Israel’s crimes.

We are ready to engage in Arab and international efforts for Gaza’s reconstruction.

The agreement represents a political and security failure of Israel’s plans to impose displacement.

The release of hundreds of our prisoners, including women, reflects the resilience of the resistance and unity of purpose.

We reject any foreign guardianship and affirm that Gaza’s administration is a purely Palestinian matter.

We renew the call for national unity and a unified political path involving all factions.”
