Hamas official Mohammed Nazzal said the movement will soon announce its position on Trump’s Gaza plan, stressing that any response will prioritize halting the genocide without surrendering Palestinian rights.

Muhammad Nazzal, a member of the Political Bureau of the Palestinian Resistance Movement Hamas, said on Friday that the movement would announce its position on the American plan “very soon.” He stressed Hamas’ seriousness in pursuing an understanding aimed at stopping the war and genocide in the Gaza Strip.

In an interview with Al-Jazeera, Nazzal explained that Hamas’ response would “not be delayed,” emphasizing that it would take into account the interests of the Palestinian people, fundamental and strategic principles, and political considerations. He underscored that the movement “will not allow the genocide to continue.”

Rejecting accusations of nihilism, Nazzal stated that Hamas “does not accept the logic of threats, dictates, and pressure that are wielded like the sword of time.”

He reiterated that Hamas’ commitment to an understanding is grounded in the principle that “time is blood,” stressing its desire to halt the massacres and genocide before they enter a third year.

Trump’s Plan: Instant Rewards for Israel, Vague Promises for Palestinians

Nazzal confirmed that Hamas had received the plan, “attributed to US President Donald Trump,” on Monday evening. While noting its many caveats, he said the Movement was exploring “gray areas” that could allow a halt to the genocide in Gaza.

“The end cannot be the surrender of the Palestinian people’s rights after all these sacrifices,” he said, adding that Hamas retains the right to raise observations serving Palestinian interests and accepts “the logic of dialogue and discussion.”

He revealed that, on the second day after receiving the plan, Hamas began both internal and external consultations, and is also in communication with mediators and Arab and Islamic parties regarding the proposal.

On Thursday, the White House said President Trump was awaiting Hamas’ response to his Gaza plan. A White House official told Fox News that the proposal was “acceptable” and added, “We expect Hamas to accept it so we can move forward toward a more peaceful Middle East.”

The White House released the plan on September 29. It calls for an immediate ceasefire in the Gaza Strip, followed by a comprehensive program for reconstruction and the restructuring of the political and security situation in Gaza.

The plan seeks to transform Gaza into a “weapon-free zone” and envisions a transitional governance mechanism with international and regional guarantees, under the direct supervision of President Trump. An international body chaired by Trump would monitor implementation.

It also includes a prisoner exchange: all Israeli captives held by Hamas would be released within 72 hours of approval of the plan, in return for the release of hundreds of Palestinian detainees from Israeli prisons.

The plan stipulates an end to fighting, the disarmament of the Palestinian Resistance, and a gradual Israeli withdrawal from the Gaza Strip, which would then be governed by a technocratic authority.

Since October 7, 2023, Israel, with US support, has waged a war of extermination in Gaza. More than 66,000 Palestinians have been killed and approximately 169,000 wounded—most of them women and children. A man-made famine has claimed the lives of at least 455 people, including 151 children.
