Hamas said the attack “constitutes a new blow to the occupation’s security system and its illusions of stopping the tide of resistance deeply rooted in the souls of our people.”

Two Israelis were injured in a stabbing operation at a hotel in west Jerusalem on Friday, Israeli media reported.

A 50-year-old was in a serious condition, while a 23-year-old was moderately injured after one of the hotel employees stabbed the two in the dining room of the establishment, Times of Israel reported, citing Hebrew media reports.

The suspect is a 42-year-old Palestinian from Shuafat in East Jerusalem and was detained by an off-duty police investigator staying at the hotel, the report added. Israeli police were investigating the motive behind the attack, according to Israel’s Channel 12.

Hamas, the Palestinian Resistance movement, said in a statement that the “heroic stabbing operation carried out by one of Palestine’s heroes … comes as a natural response to the crimes of the terrorist enemy and its herds of settlers.”

The movement said it “constitutes a new blow to the occupation’s security system and its illusions of stopping the tide of resistance deeply rooted in the souls of our people.”

Dozens Detained

On Monday, seven Israelis were killed and 15 others injured in a shooting inside a central bus station in Jerusalem, near the illegal settlement of Ramot.

Tensions have increased across the occupied West Bank in recent days while Israel intensifies its ongoing genocidal assault on Gaza, ordering nearly one million Palestinians to forcibly evacuate from Gaza City.

On Thursday, the Israeli army ordered a shutdown of the town of Tulkarm, leading to the arrests of scores of Palestinian men.

Israeli Soldiers Injured

Israel’s detention campaign followed a Resistance operation that targeted an Israeli military vehicle near a checkpoint, injuring two soldiers.

Israeli Army Radio confirmed that an Israeli army vehicle “hit an explosive device at Crossing 104 near Tulkarm” injuring two soldiers.

In a statement, Al-Qassam Brigades said its fighters carried out the attack in cooperation with fighters from the Al-Quds Tulkarm Brigade.

“Our fighters also confirmed observing the landing of helicopter aircraft for evacuation,” the group stated.
