Palestinian Killed in Israeli Airstrike

At least two Palestinian has been killed and three others seriously wounded in an Israeli airstrike in the Gaza Strip, medical sources say.

Witnesses said a car exploded after it was fired upon by an Israeli warplane in Gaza City during the Muslim Eid al-Adha holiday on Wednesday.

"Mohammed Yassin and his brother Islam were killed in an Israeli strike on a car in the Samer area of Gaza City," AFP quoted emergency services spokesman Adham Abu Selmiya as saying.

One of those injured is reported to be in critical condition.

The Israeli army, which has resumed its targeted killings in the Gaza Strip, had no immediate comment on the raid.

Earlier in the month, the Israeli military in a joint operation with the Shin Bet, Israel’s internal security service, targeted and killed Mohammed Jamal al-Nimnim, a senior member of the Army of Islam.

Nimnim, 27, was killed after an Israeli drone fired missiles at his car outside the headquarters of the Hamas security forces in Gaza City.

Israeli officials said they ordered Nimnim’s assassination as they had received reports that he was planning a number of attacks against American and Israeli targets in the Sinai Peninsula.

The Israeli army had earlier denied having played any role in the attack.
