Rubio arrived in Israel for talks with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, as the fallout from Israel’s strike on Qatar and the ongoing war on Gaza fuel regional tensions.
US Secretary of State Marco Rubio landed in Israel on Sunday, beginning a trip overshadowed by the fallout from Israel’s unprecedented air raid on Qatar’s capital just days earlier.
According to US media reports, he is expected to meet Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu at a moment of rising regional tensions, with an emergency Arab-Islamic summit convening Monday in Doha and Israel intensifying its campaign in Gaza.
The visit follows remarks by US President Donald Trump, who reportedly criticized Israel’s strike on Hamas officials meeting in Doha. Though the attempt failed to eliminate its intended targets, it killed six people, including a member of Qatar’s security detail.

Before leaving Washington, Rubio told reporters that while Trump was “not happy” about the operation, it was “not going to change the nature of our relationship with the Israelis.” Still, he acknowledged that the aftermath of the incident would be central to conversations on achieving a truce in Gaza.
“The president wants this to be finished with. And finished with meaning 48 hostages released all at once. Hamas is no longer a threat, so we can move on to the next phase, which is, how do you rebuild Gaza?” he said.
“How do you provide security? How do you make sure Hamas never comes back again? That’s the president’s priority … And part of what we’re going to have to discuss as part of this visit is how the events of last week with Qatar impact that.”
Rubio added that questions remain over who would lead reconstruction efforts, how they would be funded, and what mechanism would ensure stability.
Here’s Why Israel’s Failed Assassination Strike on Doha is Not Surprising
On social media Saturday, he wrote that his focus in Israel would be “on securing the return of hostages, finding ways to make sure humanitarian aid reaches civilians, and addressing the threat posed by Hamas.”
The Qatari attack, carried out without coordination with Washington, upended mediation efforts.
Hamas, for its part, has said it is prepared to release all Israeli captives and hand authority in Gaza to an interim Palestinian body in exchange for an end to hostilities and Israel’s full withdrawal.
Netanyahu, however, has reiterated plans for settlement expansion in the occupied West Bank and signaled support for the mass displacement of Palestinians from Gaza.

Rubio, the little wimp won’t do anything but get down on his knees for Nazinyahu. They should cut off all relations with Wasrael, condemn all the Jewish Nazis, and promote peace. But they never will. They only want war, suffering, starvation, ethnic cleansing. The real problem is the Israeli Jewish Nazis. they’ll never stop until someone stops them.
Someone needs to level Wasrael so they have no choice but to abandon Gaza and f#ck off back to their original countries.
