The talks are set to take place just days before Trump meets with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu at the White House on September 29.
US President Donald Trump is preparing to meet with a select group of Arab and Muslim leaders on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly in New York on Tuesday, according to two Arab officials cited by Axios.
According to the officials, the report stated, the White House has already sent invitations for the meeting to the leaders of Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Qatar, Egypt, Jordan and Turkiye.

The meeting is aimed at discussing their role in “a post-war plan for Gaza,” including and even sending troops “for a stabilization force that will replace the Israeli military,” the sources reportedly told Axios.
The talks are set to take place just days before Trump meets with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu at the White House on September 29.
The timing also coincides with a growing wave of recognition of Palestinian statehood from Western countries and threats from Israel to annex more Palestinian land in the occupied West Bank.
Abraham Accords
The Arab leaders, in turn, are expected to urge Trump to press Netanyahu to end its genocidal assault on Gaza and to halt any plans for West Bank annexation. The UAE has already warned the administration that annexation could “lead to the collapse of the Abraham Accords,” the report stated, “which are Trump’s key foreign policy achievement from his first presidential term.”
Trump is also expected to meet with leaders of some Persian Gulf countries including Saudi Arabia, the UAE, Qatar, Oman, Bahrain and Kuwait, to address concerns over Israel’s attempted assassination of Hamas leaders during an attack on Doha earlier this month. Five people were killed in that attack.
The Arab sources told Axios that the Gulf leaders “want to get assurances from the Trump administration that such attacks will not happen again.”
The report stated that the White House did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
Recognition of Palestinian Statehood
On Sunday, the UK, Canada, Australia, and Portugal announced their recognition of Palestine, bringing the total number of UN member states that have taken this step to 153 out of 193.
Eleven countries, including Malta, Luxembourg, France, Belgium, and Armenia, have also signaled plans to recognize the state of Palestine during the 80th session of the UN General Assembly, where world leaders will convene in New York on Monday for high-level discussions.
Recognition of Palestine: What the UK, Canada, and Australia’s Move Really Means
This anticipated recognition is the culmination of a months-long diplomatic process, led by Saudi Arabia and France, aimed at exerting increased pressure on Israel and linking the future of peace in the region to the establishment of a Palestinian state.
Staggering Death Toll
Since reneging on the ceasefire on March 18, Israel has continued its bloody aerial bombardment across the Gaza Strip, killing and wounding thousands of Palestinians.
Starting on October 7, 2023, the Israeli military, with American support, launched a genocidal war against the people of Gaza. This campaign has so far resulted in the deaths of more than 65,000 Palestinians, with more than 165,000 wounded. The vast majority of the population has been displaced, and the destruction of infrastructure is unprecedented since World War II. Thousands of people are still missing.

In addition to the military assault, the Israeli blockade has caused a man-made famine, leading to the deaths of hundreds of Palestinians—mostly children—with hundreds of thousands more at risk.
Despite widespread international condemnation, little has been done to hold Israel accountable. The nation is currently under investigation for genocide by the International Court of Justice, while accused war criminals, including Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, are officially wanted by the International Criminal Court.
