GHF Executive Director John Acree last week reportedly confirmed that the organization’s model was being adopted and expanded by the CMCC.
One month after the US-led Civil-Military Coordination Center (CMCC) was purportedly established to implement US President Donald Trump’s Gaza peace plan, it “has grown to include representatives from 50 partner nations and international organizations,” the US Central Command (CENTCOM) has said.
The center, headquartered in Israel’s Kiryat Gat, north-east of Gaza, was set up five days after world leaders signed a US-brokered ceasefire agreement between Tel Aviv and the Palestinian Resistance movement Hamas in Gaza.
Since its establishment, the controversial US and Israeli-backed Gaza Humanitarian Foundation (GHF), which oversaw at least four aid distribution sites in the enclave, has ceased operations. Close to 3,000 Palestinians, including women and children, seeking aid were killed at or near the sites since it was established in May this year.
Is the CMCC Covering for Israel? Gaza ‘Ceasefire Monitor’ Fuels Fears of a Hidden Agenda
GHF Executive Director John Acree last week confirmed, according to Anadolu, that the organization’s model was being adopted and expanded by the CMCC and other international organizations following weeks of talks.
The GHF, which was created by the US and Israel to replace the UN agency for Palestinian refugees (UNRWA), the Anadolu news agency reported, has also faced criticism for failing to meet agreed-upon aid delivery levels.
Under the ceasefire agreement reached between Hamas and Israel on October 10, 600 trucks of aid were supposed to enter Gaza daily.
Israel, however, has not adhered to the agreement. In addition, it has launched almost daily attacks that have killed at least 342 Palestinians since the ceasefire came into effect.
‘International Partners’
Admiral Brad Cooper, commander of US Central Command, which opened the coordination center, said in a statement on Friday that “We appreciate the efforts of our international partners. Successful implementation of the peace plan requires unprecedented collaboration, and we are making progress.”

Cooper said the center “facilitated the movement of more than 24,000 trucks worth of humanitarian aid and commercial goods into Gaza the past five weeks, while working to open additional routes for delivering and distributing needed goods and aid.”
Ambassador Steven Fagin, who leads the CMCC alongside Lt. Gen. Patrick Frank, commander of U.S. Army Central said that the CMCC brings together “a diverse array of stakeholders—including the Israel Defense Forces, COGAT, U.S. military and civilians, partner nation militaries and civilians, United Nations organizations, and non-governmental organizations.” This makes the CMCC “uniquely positioned to ensure the success of humanitarian assistance efforts,” according to Fagin.
The center is also “designed to support stabilization efforts,” according to an earlier CENTCOM statement. It noted that “U.S. military personnel will not deploy into Gaza but will instead help facilitate the flow of humanitarian, logistical, and security assistance from international counterparts into Gaza.”
‘Problematic Nature’
But as the Palestine Chronicle’s Robert Inlakesh outlines, the “problematic nature” of the CMCC includes that it “is operating inside Israeli territory, under Israeli supervision, and is evidently incapable of actually pressuring Tel Aviv to adhere to any of the key tenets of the ceasefire agreement.
Gaza’s Blackwater: Despite Denials, US Boots Will Be on the Ground in Gaza
“Even on the question of aid, the CMCC is now being weaponized by the Israelis to justify their blocking of humanitarian aid,” he writes.
Critcism of GHF
The GHF, on whose model the CMCC is based, was widely condemned by organizations and rights groups, including medical charity Doctors Without Borders (MSF), which demanded it be shut down.
In a 26-page report titled ‘This is Not Aid. This is Orchestrated Killing,’ MSF said testimonies from patients describing their experiences at the GHF sites “depict a level of dehumanisation and violence, both indiscriminate and targeted, which is beyond disturbing.”
The MSF report echoed the call from more than 130 humanitarian organizations, including Oxfam, Save the Children and Amnesty, in July demanding immediate action to shut down the “deadly” aid distribution scheme in Gaza.
Amnesty: Israel is ‘Still Committing Genocide’ in Gaza despite Ceasefire
“Israeli forces and armed groups – some reportedly operating with backing from Israeli authorities – now routinely open fire on desperate civilians risking everything just to survive,” the organizations said in a statement at the time.
The organizations urged “the existing UN-led coordination mechanisms” to be utilized in the enclave and for Israel’s blockade on aid and commercial supplies to be lifted.
Amnesty International warned on Thursday that “Israeli authorities are still committing genocide” against Palestinians in the Gaza Strip, more than a month after a US-brokered ceasefire was announced.
“The ceasefire risks creating a dangerous illusion that life in Gaza is returning to normal. But while Israeli authorities and forces have reduced the scale of their attacks and allowed limited amounts of humanitarian aid into Gaza, the world must not be fooled. Israel’s genocide is not over,” Agnès Callamard, Secretary General of Amnesty International, said in a statement.
Staggering Death Toll
Starting on October 7, 2023, the Israeli military, with American support, launched a genocidal war against the people of Gaza. This campaign has so far resulted in the deaths of close to 70,000 Palestinians, with more than 170,000 wounded. The vast majority of the population has been displaced, and the destruction of infrastructure is unprecedented since World War II. Thousands of people are still missing.
UN Says Israel Allowed Only 1 of 8 Aid Movements into Gaza, Violating Ceasefire
In addition to the military assault, the Israeli blockade has caused a man-made famine, leading to the deaths of hundreds of Palestinians—mostly children—with hundreds of thousands more at risk.
Despite widespread international condemnation, little has been done to hold Israel accountable. The nation is currently under investigation for genocide by the International Court of Justice, while accused war criminals, including Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, are officially wanted by the International Criminal Court.

All those young, strong, brave men in uniforms could show real strength by clearing out rubble and building shelter. But no, all those well-fed under-educated overpaid racists with guns are going to proudly prevent baby formula from crossing a border. Israel does that by itself, which suggests that the forces are there to take the place of Israeli soldiers who are getting tired.
