Palestinian Shot, Injured by Israeli Forces in Gaza Border clashes

Israeli forces shot and injured a Palestinian in ongoing clashes east of al-Buriej refugee camp in the central Gaza Strip, the Gaza-based Ministry of Health said Wednesday.

Spokesman for the Ministry of Health in Gaza, Ashraf al-Qidra, told Ma’an that a 20-year-old Palestinian was shot with live fire in the foot, and taken to Shuhada al-Aqsa hospital in moderate condition.

An Israeli army spokesperson told Ma’an that “dozens of rioters” gathered along the border in central Gaza Strip, and that the “rioters breached the buffer zone and attempted to damage the fence multiple times.”

The spokesperson said Israeli forces “repeatedly told the perpetrators to halt, and fired warning shots into the air,” and that “when the crowd continued to advance, the forces acted to prevent the threat to nearby communities and fired on main instigators.”

The spokesperson said “hits were confirmed” but could not specify how many Palestinians had been shot and injured.
