Supporters of Fatah leader, Mahmoud Abbas, and expelled senior Fatah official, Mohamed Dahlan, engaged in clashes on Sunday, resulting in four Palestinians being wounded, Felesteen newspaper reported.

Palestinian medical sources in Gaza said that the four sustained moderate to serious injuries and were taken to Al-Shifa Hospital.

Eyewitnesses reported that the clashes erupted during a meeting held by Fatah members and leaders to discuss the upcoming local elections due to be held in October.

The atmosphere turned violent during the meeting, resulting in batons being used before police arrived on the scene, arresting a number of people.

Police issued no comments regarding the event.
