Israel has severed all communications in Gaza City and intensified the use of explosive-laden armored vehicles, a human rights group warns, as 800,000 Palestinians are left isolated under bombardment.

The Israeli occupation army has cut all telecommunications and internet connections in Gaza City, completely isolating 800,000 Palestinians as it escalates attacks on the besieged area, a human rights body has warned.

The measure, causing a total blackout, comes amid relentless bombardments and collapsing high-rises as well as the advance of Israeli military vehicles into the city, the Euro-Med Human Rights Monitor said.

A Palestinian telecommunications company said on Wednesday that there has been a disruption in fixed internet and landline services in the Gaza and North Gaza governorates, according to the Sada news agency.

Repair Work Underway

The company reportedly stated that “this interruption is a result of targeting several main supply routes to the area amid the ongoing aggression.”

Its crews “are working around the clock to repair the damages amid the dangerous field situation.”

Booby-Trapped Vehicles

Euro-Med Monitor also reported that the Israeli military has, in recent days, intensified the use of booby-trapped armoured vehicles loaded with tons of explosives to demolish central residential neighbourhoods in Gaza City.

“This escalation forms part of its declared objective to destroy the city and forcibly displace its residents, and represents a grave escalation of the ongoing genocide against Palestinians in the Gaza Strip, now in its 24th consecutive month,” the organization said in a report.

Its teams documented the detonation of ten booby-trapped armoured vehicles on Wednesday morning between residential homes in Street 8, south of Tel al-Hawa neighbourhood, one of Gaza City’s central residential areas. At least three other vehicles were detonated among homes in al-Nafaq Street east of the city, along with several more in the vicinity of Sheikh Radwan Pool in northern Gaza City.

‘Systematic Psychological Terror’

According to Euro-Med Monitor, the Israeli army has converted decommissioned American-made M113 armoured personnel carriers into booby-trapped robots, each loaded with no less than seven tons of explosives, “and directed them to explode in the midst of densely populated neighbourhoods.”

“The catastrophic impact of these vehicles extends beyond large-scale physical destruction and displacement, amounting to systematic psychological terror,” the organization stated.

The explosions “create deafening blasts that shake the entire city, causing surviving buildings to tremble under violent shockwaves, and plunging civilians into relentless fear, trauma, and a constant sense of insecurity.”

Over 65,000 Killed

At least 65,141 Palestinians have been killed in Israel’s genocidal war on the Gaza Strip since October 2023, as four more people, including one child, died of starvation in the enclave, the Health Ministry said on Thursday, according to the Anadolu news agency.

A ministry statement said that 79 bodies were brought to hospitals in the last 24 hours, while 228 people were injured, taking the number of injuries to 165,925 in the Israeli onslaught.

“Many victims are still trapped under the rubble and on the roads as rescuers are unable to reach them,” it added.

The ministry also noted that nine Palestinians were killed and over 33 others injured by Israeli army fire while trying to get humanitarian aid in the last 24 hours, bringing the total number of Palestinians killed while seeking aid to 2,513, with over 18,414 others wounded since May 27.

The ministry said four more Palestinians, including a child, died of malnutrition and starvation in the last 24 hours. This brought the famine-linked death toll since October 2023 to 435 people, including 147 children.

Since March 2, Israeli authorities have completely closed all Gaza border crossings, pushing the territory’s 2.4 million population into famine.
