COGAT claimed a limited number of local merchants were approved “subject to specific criteria and security screening” as part of the new mechanism.
The Israeli Cabinet has allegedly approved a mechanism to allow the “gradual and controlled” entry of goods into the blockaded Gaza Strip via the private sector.
“This aims to increase the volume of aid entering the Gaza Strip, while reducing reliance on aid collection by the UN and international organizations,” COGAT, the Israeli military agency that coordinates aid, said in a statement on Tuesday.

It claimed a limited number of local merchants were approved “subject to specific criteria and security screening” as part of the new mechanism.
The move comes amid a tight Israeli blockade that has left Gaza’s 2.4 million population on the verge of famine.
According to Gaza’s Health Ministry, at least 180 people, including 93 children, have died from starvation and malnutrition since October 2023.
‘Cooperation with Security Agencies’
Goods that will be allowed in reportedly include basic food products, baby food, fruits and vegetables, and hygiene supplies, COGAT said, adding all goods will “undergo thorough inspection.”
Aid Air Drop Kills Palestinian Medic – UN Demands Entry of Aid Trucks
Israel will “continue to operate monitoring and oversight mechanisms” for the entry of aid into Gaza, in “cooperation with security agencies.”
Gaza’s Government Media Office said Monday that Israel had allowed in just 674 aid trucks since July 27 – only 14 percent of the besieged enclave’s minimum daily requirement of 600 trucks.
Call from UN
UNRWA has demanded that the UN and its partners be allowed to “do their job.”
“Five months on the ongoing attempts to replace the UN coordinated response by four Israeli militarized distribution points, hunger has become the latest killer in Gaza. It’s time for unhindered, safe & dignified assistance. Let the UN and our partners do their job,” UNRWA’s Commissioner-General Philippe Lazzarini said on X.

The Health Ministry said that at least 1,516 aid seekers have been killed and 10,067 others injured by Israeli fire near US-run aid distribution centers in Gaza since May 27.
The US and Israel-backed Gaza Humanitarian Foundation (GHF) distribution scheme has been widely criticized as being ineffective and a “death trap” for starving civilians.
‘Nazi Concentration Camp’ – Hamas
Hamas leader Osama Hamdan warned on Monday that the Israeli occupation has transformed Gaza into a “full-fledged Nazi concentration camp,” stating it is worse than the notorious Auschwitz camp. He accused Israel of committing acts of genocide in Gaza that, he said, surpass the horrors of the Holocaust.
Gaza Turned into a Concentration Camp, World Must Act Now – Hamdan
Hamdan urged the international community to act immediately: “It is time to stop this crime, hold its perpetrators accountable, and force the Zionist entity to abide by international humanitarian law.”
He said 22,000 aid trucks are waiting at the border crossings while Israel “deliberately prevents” their entry as part of a “systematic starvation policy.”
Over 60,000 Killed
Since Israel’s reneging on the ceasefire on March 18, it has killed and wounded thousands of Palestinians throughout the Gaza Strip through a bloody and ongoing aerial bombardment.
On October 7, 2023, following a Palestinian Resistance operation in southern Israel, the Israeli military launched a genocidal war against the Palestinians, killing over 60,000, wounding more than 147,000, with over 14,000 still missing.
At least nine Palestinians were killed in Israeli attacks early in the morning, following a particularly deadly day in which 56 people—most of them aid seekers—were killed by Israeli army fire, Al-Jazeera reported, citing medical sources.https://t.co/QYr6ws1njI pic.twitter.com/V9uADnarcs

Despite habitual condemnation by many countries around the world of the Israeli genocide, little has been done to hold Israel accountable.
Israel is currently under investigation for the crime of genocide by the International Court of Justice, while accused war criminals — including Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu — are now officially wanted by the International Criminal Court.
The Israeli genocide has been largely defended, supported, and financed by Washington and a few other Western powers.

Why should the Israeli Nazis be in charge of food distribution? Hamas should be doing that. Because, contrary to popular belief, they’re the only ones who can actually be trusted not to murder children.
COGAT want the last “Israeli” POWs to starve to death. Ben-Gvir will be pleased.
