Key Developments
- Iran said recent US attacks on an oil tanker and communications facility originated from Kuwait and Bahrain.
- Tehran warned it would use “all capabilities” to confront future aggression.
- The Gulf Cooperation Council condemned Iranian attacks as a dangerous regional escalation.
Iran sharply escalated its rhetoric on Wednesday, accusing Kuwait and Bahrain of facilitating recent US attacks against Iranian targets and warning that Tehran would use “all capabilities” to confront future aggression and target its source.
In a statement, Iran’s Foreign Ministry strongly condemned US attacks on an Iranian oil tanker in the Strait of Hormuz and a communications tower on Qeshm Island in southern Iran.
The ministry also condemned what it called the “colonial use” of the territory and resources of regional states by the United States to carry out hostile operations against Iran.
According to Tehran, the attacks did not only violate the existing ceasefire understandings but also constituted a breach of international law and the United Nations Charter’s prohibition on the use of force.

Iran Names Kuwait, Bahrain
Iran directly linked Kuwait and Bahrain to the incidents, saying the attacks had originated from the territory of two regional states.
The Foreign Ministry stated that Tehran holds the rulers of Kuwait and Bahrain directly responsible for the attacks that took place overnight.
It warned that allowing foreign powers to use a country’s land, airspace, territorial waters, military facilities or bases to launch or support military aggression against Iran constitutes a violation of international law.
The ministry added that such actions violate the principle of good neighborly relations and amount to an act of aggression against the Islamic Republic.
Tehran added that it reserves the right to defend its sovereignty and territorial integrity and would use all available means to confront hostile actions.
The ministry specifically warned that Iran could target the origin and source of attacks carried out against the country.

GCC Condemns Iranian Attacks
The accusations were quickly met with a response from the Gulf Cooperation Council.
GCC Secretary-General Jasem Mohamed Albudaiwi condemned what he described as continuing Iranian attacks against Bahrain and Kuwait, calling them a “dangerous and unprecedented escalation.”
In a statement, Albudaiwi accused Iran of targeting civilian infrastructure, government facilities and diplomatic missions in both countries.
He said the attacks reflected what he described as Iran’s continued pursuit of hostile policies aimed at undermining the security, stability and sovereignty of Gulf states.
The GCC chief called for a firm international response and stressed that the security of Bahrain and Kuwait is inseparable from the security of the wider Gulf bloc.
Albudaiwi also reiterated the GCC’s full support for measures taken by Bahrain and Kuwait to defend their sovereignty and territorial integrity.
