With Netanyahu’s approval, the Knesset advanced a death penalty bill pushed by far-right minister Itamar Ben-Gvir, condemned as a violation of international law.
The Israeli Knesset’s Security Committee approved a bill on Monday that would authorize the execution of Palestinian prisoners, with the Israeli prime minister reportedly having given the green light for the legislation.
The far-right Jewish Power party, led by National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir, submitted the bill, which will go to a first reading in the Knesset on Wednesday.

The draft law states that “the death penalty shall be imposed on any person who intentionally, or through indifference, causes the death of an Israeli citizen out of racist motives, hatred, or intent to harm the State of Israel.”
Bills in Israel must pass three readings in the Knesset to become law.
Netanyahu’s Approval
Israel’s public broadcaster KAN reported that Israel’s coordinator for hostages and missing persons, Gal Hirsch, told the Knesset’s National Security Committee that premier Benjamin Netanyahu had expressed support for the measure, the Anadolu news agency reported.

Hirsch said he had previously opposed the bill “because of the risk it posed to the lives of the living hostages in Gaza.”
“The hostages are now alive, and therefore my opposition no longer stands,” he added.
Condemnation
Palestinian Resistance movement Hamas reportedly condemned the latest move by the Knesset “as a fascist act by the occupation, violating international law.”

Hamas demanded the UN and international bodies “urgently intervene to stop this crime, investigate prisoner conditions, and expose atrocities, citing reports of abuse at detention centers like the notorious Sde Teiman detention facility.
The Palestinian Prisoners’ Club also condemned the proposed law, saying it is a dangerous escalation of a long-standing policy of brutality, the Quds News Network (QNN) reported.
Deaths in Detention
On Sunday, the Commission of Detainees and Ex-Detainees Affairs and the Palestinian Prisoners’ Club announced the death of another Palestinian prisoner in Israeli detention. His death raises to 81 the number of prisoners who have died in detention since October 7, 2023.

The official Palestinian news agency, WAFA, reported that the bill to execute prisoners is not new but has been proposed repeatedly over the years, “most recently in 2022 when the extremist minister Ben-Gvir reintroduced it with a number of amendments.”
It was eventually approved by the Knesset in its preliminary reading in March 2023, the report stated.

More than 10,000 Palestinians are currently held in Israeli prisons, including women and children, and face torture, starvation and medical neglect, according to Palestinian and Israeli human rights groups. Several detainees have died in custody.
Rights organizations say Ben-Gvir has sharply worsened prison conditions, restricting family visits, cutting food rations and limiting prisoners’ access to showers, Anadolu reported.

The Israeli Jewish Nazis are scum. They would murder innocent people: including CHIL DRENNNNN!!!
ALL governments should come together, no matter what my corrupt US government says, and storm into Occupied Palestine, take out all the Nazi trash, and clean house once and for all. They are a plague on this Earth and a malignant tumor on the heart of society.
There are very few innocents in Wasrael, they are caught in the middle. However, they also did ZERO to stop it.
Now the US will follow: “the death penalty shall be imposed on any person who intentionally, or through indifference, causes the death of an Israeli citizen out of racist motives, hatred, or intent to harm the State of USA.” Then UK, France, and Germany, … Well, the State of Palestine should follow: now, they then can kill illegal, well-armed, fanatical, squatters aka “settlers”.
