Palestinian fighter, Mohammed Al-Faqih, was killed today in the West Bank village of Sourif in Hebron following an exchange of fire with Israeli forces that besieged a house in which he took shelter.

The Israeli army issued a statement after it withdrew from the village saying it killed Mohammed Al-Faqih and arrested his brother, Suhaib Al-Faqih, his cousin Muaath Al-Faqih and his friend Mohammed Amirah, whom they accused of assisting him.

The Palestinian Ministry of Health said residents in the village evacuated the body of Al-Faqih and another injured Palestinian from under the rubble of the house in which they sought shelter.

An Israeli force stormed Sourif at around 10pm on Tuesday and imposed a total closure on the village, cutting electricity and using helicopters to arrest or kill Al-Faqih who is accused of killing an Israeli settler last month near Hebron.

A number of Israeli soldiers and 10 Palestinian citizens were injured.

Israeli soldiers have been hunting Mohammed Al-Faqih and arrested a number of his family members to pressure him to hand himself over to the occupation forces, which he refused to do.
