An Israeli soldier was killed in Khan Yunis as Palestinian resistance operations continue, while Gaza’s death toll surpasses 62,600 amid Israel’s ongoing genocidal war.

An Israeli soldier was killed in Khan Yunis, in the southern Gaza Strip, during what it described as a “difficult security incident”. 

According to Israeli media, the soldier was killed by an explosive device.

Despite Israel’s ground incursions into large areas of Gaza, resistance groups continue to target its forces and military sites inside the Strip, while also occasionally firing rockets at Israeli cities and towns.

Since the beginning of the war on Gaza, the Israeli military has officially acknowledged the deaths of 898 soldiers and the injury of 6,196, according to figures published on its website. Palestinian resistance, however, claims that the true toll is significantly higher.

With Israel maintaining strict military censorship, critics inside the country accuse the army of concealing the extent of its losses in order to preserve morale among its troops.

Backed by the United States, Israel has waged a genocidal war on Gaza since October 7, 2023—marked by large-scale killing, starvation, destruction, and forced displacement—ignoring repeated international appeals and orders from the International Court of Justice to stop.

The ongoing war has so far left 62,622 Palestinians dead and 157,673 wounded—most of them children and women—while more than 10,000 remain missing. 

Hundreds of thousands have been forcibly displaced, and famine has claimed the lives of at least 263 people, including 112 children.
