Jewish settlers spread adhesive substance to the door of the Sheikh Makki Mosque in the Old City of occupied Jerusalem, on Monday.

Sources told Ma’an that those responsible for opening and closing the mosque were shocked as they arrived at the mosque to open it when they found an adhesive substance spread on the lock of the door and around it.

The door was then reopened and the substance was removed.

Witnesses reported that the police was immediately informed of the incident, they arrived later and took pictures of the door.

Between 500,000 and 600,000 Israelis live in Jewish-only settlements across occupied East Jerusalem and the West Bank in violation of international law, with recent announcements of settlement expansion provoking condemnation from the international community.
