AL-JAZEERA: EU foreign policy chief Kaja Kallas said: “We condemn the killing of five Al Jazeera journalists in an Israeli airstrike on Gaza City.”

STATEMENT: The Al-Qassam Brigades, the military wing of Hamas, announced today that they carried out several attacks on Israeli forces in Gaza.

In three separate statements, the group claimed to have shelled two Israeli military sites and sniped two soldiers. According to a statement released this evening, Al-Qassam fighters used a Ghoul sniper rifle to kill two Israeli soldiers east of the Al-Tuffah neighborhood in Gaza City.

STATEMENT: Swedish Foreign Minister Maria Malmer Stenergard has requested the suspension of the trade portion of the partnership agreement with Israel, stating that the situation in Gaza remains catastrophic.

STATEMENT: Spanish Foreign Minister José Manuel Albares stated that it is time for the European Union to follow Spain’s lead and recognize a Palestinian state.

He called on the EU to take immediate action to prevent a new wave of Israeli violence in Gaza, adding, “We cannot stand idly by in the face of the escalating Israeli military occupation and famine.”

ISRAELI MEDIA: According to Israel Hayom, former Israeli Chief of Staff Gadi Eisenkot stated that when he joined the war cabinet, the return of the hostages was not listed as one of the war’s objectives.

ARABIC MEDIA: The spokesperson for the UN Secretary-General told Al-Jazeera that the conflict in Gaza is the deadliest in contemporary history.

He stated that the Secretary-General explicitly condemns the killing of Al-Jazeera journalists. The spokesperson also noted that the Israeli government has not allowed foreign journalists into the Strip.

He emphasized that journalists must not be killed, and foreign press must be allowed to work freely. Accountability is desperately needed. Unfortunately, that takes time, but it will come, he added.
