ANSARALLAH: Ansarallah’s military spokesman Yahya Saree announced that the movement carried out three operations targeting Israeli sites. He said a hypersonic ballistic missile “Palestine 2” struck Lod Airport, while drones hit a military target in Ashkelon and another target in Jaffa.

AL-JAZEERA: A legal advisor for South Africa’s Foreign Ministry told Al Jazeera that the UN famine report is definitive evidence of Israel committing genocide in Gaza. He expressed hope that more countries would join South Africa’s call to pursue international justice. He added that Israel continues to violate the measures ordered by the International Criminal Court.

SAUDI FM: The Saudi Foreign Ministry said the worsening humanitarian disaster in Gaza is a direct result of the absence of mechanisms to deter and hold Israel accountable for its crimes. It added that this will remain a stain on the international community, particularly permanent members of the UN Security Council, unless immediate action is taken to end the famine and stop the genocide against the Palestinian people. The statement came in response to the report by the Global Initiative for Integrated Food Security Phase Classification confirming famine in the Strip.

FAO EMERGENCY OFFICE: The director of the UN Food and Agriculture Organization’s emergency office said during a press conference in New York that Gaza is facing a complete famine. He stated that the worst-case famine scenario is now reality, with extreme price hikes of whatever goods remain in the Strip adding to the burden of residents.

FORMER US DEPUTY NATIONAL SECURITY ADVISOR: A former US deputy national security advisor said Israel is closer to igniting another war in the West Bank than to ending the catastrophic conflict in Gaza. He argued that Israel is moving toward two dangerous paths at once and committed a strategic and moral blunder by leaving Gaza without food.

UNICEF: UNICEF’s spokesperson warned that starving Palestinians in Gaza will have nowhere to turn if Israel continues expanding its military offensive. She added that ignoring famine reports and failing to respond will put tens of thousands of civilians, including children, at risk of death from hunger. She called for immediate action to ensure food and aid reach Gaza.

ISRAELI MEDIA: Israeli media confirmed that protesters blocked the main Ayalon Highway connecting Tel Aviv to its suburbs to demand an immediate deal, noting that Highway 6, which cuts Israel from north to south, was also blocked.

“The confirmation of famine in Gaza City and surrounding areas is horrific and could have been completely prevented. PALESTINE CHRONICLE: Famine has been confirmed in Gaza City and its surrounding areas for the first time, with UN Secretary-General António Guterres calling it “a man-made disaster” and “a failure of humanity itself.”

According to the latest results of the Integrated Food Security Phase Classification (IPC) analysis, famine (IPC Phase 5), “with reasonable evidence,” is confirmed in Gaza Governorate, as of August 15.

ISRAELI ARMY: The Israeli Home Front Command reported that sirens sounded in southern areas over fears of a drone infiltration. The army said it was conducting checks and investigations following the alarms in the Gaza envelope.

GAZA HEALTH MINISTRY: The Ministry of Health in Gaza announced that 71 Palestinians were killed and 251 wounded by Israeli fire in the past 24 hours. Among them were 24 killed and 133 injured while waiting for aid. The ministry added that the total death toll from Israel’s ongoing war on Gaza since October 7, 2023, has risen to 62,263 killed and 157,365 injured.

JORDANIAN FM: Jordan’s Foreign Ministry condemned remarks by Israel’s communications minister claiming that both banks of the Jordan River are part of what he called “the land of Israel.” Amman stressed that such statements would not undermine its firm position in support of the Palestinian people’s legitimate rights.

ISRAELI MEDIA: An investigation by Israel’s Channel 13 revealed that Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, National Security Minister Itamar Ben Gvir, and Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich blocked prisoner exchange deals with Hamas at least five times. The report said the government cannot claim it did everything to free the captives.

BRITISH MEDIA: The British Minister of State for the Middle East said the catastrophic humanitarian situation in Gaza has reached “new levels.” He called on Israel to allow the delivery of aid to Gaza’s population to prevent the continuation of famine.

AL-JAZEERA: The Integrated Food Security Phase Classification (IPC) reported that famine is spreading in Gaza Governorate. More than half a million people in Gaza face hunger, destitution, and death. UN organizations said the number of people suffering from food shortages in Gaza has tripled.

UNRWA: The UN agency for Palestinian refugees said nearly 90% of Gaza has been turned into Israeli military zones. It reported that children have been repeatedly displaced and now bear the heavy burden of collecting water for their families under siege.

ISRAELI MEDIA: Israeli daily Yedioth Ahronoth said the army dismissed 15 Air Force officers months ago for signing a petition demanding an end to the war and the return of captives. The officers have filed a complaint with the Supreme Court.

ISRAELI MEDIA: Israel Hayom reported that Israeli planning authorities approved 126 new settlement units in Sanur, northern West Bank. A settlement leader said the aim is to increase the settler population in the West Bank to one million.

PALESTINIAN MEDIA: Palestinian media confirmed deaths and injuries after Israeli artillery struck the Abu Iskandar area in al-Sheikh Radwan, northwest Gaza City.

CBS NEWS: CBS reported that a former US contractor who worked in Gaza said Israeli forces deliberately fired on civilians at aid distribution points. He said the gunfire was random and not warning shots, and it was aimed at civilians, not fighters.

GAZA CIVIL DEFENSE: Emergency authorities reported five Palestinians, including three children, were killed when Israeli forces bombed a tent on al-Jalaa Street in western Gaza City.

THE TELEGRAPH: The Telegraph reported that the UN-backed IPC will soon officially declare famine in Gaza City. It added that famine is expected to spread to Deir al-Balah and Khan Younis by the end of September, with over half a million people facing catastrophic hunger, destitution, and death.

UNRWA: The United Nations Relief and Works Agency (UNRWA) estimated that around 90% of Gaza’s population is displaced. The agency warned that conditions in shelters are deteriorating and that any further displacement would only exacerbate the catastrophic situation.

Qassam and Al-Quds Brigades Launch Coordinated Operations in Gaza

AL-QASSAM BRIGADES: The Al-Qassam Brigades continued their field operations, announcing on Thursday that they targeted a gathering of Israeli soldiers and vehicles on the Salah al-Din axis with short-range Rajoum rockets. This marks the second announcement today from the brigades, which earlier said they struck a command-and-control site and a gathering of soldiers and vehicles west of Rafah, in southern Gaza.

UNITED NATIONS: A deputy spokesperson for UN Secretary-General António Guterres said Israel has refused the UN request to deploy monitors at Gaza crossings, all of which are under Israeli control. The official added that this refusal prevents the UN from independently verifying the volume of aid entering Gaza. The UN also reported that Israel bombed a displaced persons site near an OCHA facility in Deir al-Balah.

US MEDIA: Axios quoted an Israeli official as saying that the Israeli delegation will negotiate over all living and dead captives, and on ending the war according to Israel’s conditions.
