Save the Children says more than 1,000 Palestinian children have been forcibly displaced from their West Bank homes during the first half of 2026.
Key Developments
- Save the Children says more than 1,000 Palestinian children were displaced in the first six months of 2026.
- The figure equals roughly half the total number displaced during the previous three years combined.
- The UN recorded a 45 percent increase in settler attacks compared with the same period in 2025.
- A UN inquiry says settler violence is enabled and supported by the Israeli state.
More than 1,000 Palestinian children have been forcibly displaced from their homes in the occupied West Bank during the first half of 2026 alone, according to a new report by Save the Children.
In a statement released on Saturday, the international organization described the figures as “deeply alarming,” noting that the number of children displaced since January represents roughly half the total number forced from their homes by settler violence during the previous three years.
According to Save the Children, around 2,000 Palestinian children were displaced between January 2023 and December 2025. More than 1,000 have already been displaced during the first six months of 2026.
Sharp Rise in Settler Attacks
The report cites United Nations data showing a significant increase in attacks carried out by Israeli settlers across the occupied West Bank.
According to the UN, settler attacks rose by 45 percent during the first half of 2026 compared with the same period last year.
More than 1,020 settler attacks were recorded between January and June this year, compared with 757 during the first six months of 2025.
Humanitarian organizations have repeatedly warned that attacks by Israeli settlers—including assaults on homes, agricultural land, livestock, and Palestinian communities—have intensified amid expanding settlement activity across the occupied territory.

UN Inquiry
The report also referenced findings by the UN Independent International Commission of Inquiry (COI), established by the Human Rights Council in May 2021.
According to the commission, settler violence is organized and enabled by the Israeli occupation authorities through a climate of impunity.
The inquiry said the Israeli government and occupation army are directly implicated in attacks carried out by settlers that have killed, injured, and displaced Palestinians.

Hundreds Injured
The increase in attacks has also led to a growing number of Palestinian injuries.
According to UN figures cited in the report, approximately 569 Palestinians have been injured by Israeli settlers since the beginning of 2026.
The report compares that figure with 832 injuries recorded during 2025, 362 in 2024, and 376 in 2023.

Escalating Violence
Violence across the occupied West Bank has intensified dramatically since October 2023, with Israeli military raids occurring alongside increasingly frequent attacks by Israeli settlers.
According to official Palestinian figures cited in the report, Israeli occupation forces and settlers have killed 1,181 Palestinians in the occupied West Bank since October 2023.
Nearly 13,000 others have been injured, while approximately 24,000 Palestinians have been arrested as of July 7, 2026.
