An Egyptian official has revealed that a political and security delegation from Cairo will visit the Gaza Strip in the coming few days to check the living conditions in the coastal enclave in addition to meeting leaders of Palestinian factions.

The Egyptian official, who asked not to reveal his identity, and who works at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Cairo, confirmed that his country has proposed a new ‘positive’ plan to deal with Gaza. The “economic and political”, he added, has been already initiated and is being implemented on the ground, as Alkhaleej Online website has reported.

“Egypt began this plan with the invitation of Palestinian delegations to Cairo, including business people, religious figures, media people, and economists to discuss developing economic and political ties between Egypt and Gaza,” the official said.

The Egyptian official noted that the second line of strengthening ties includes inviting Palestinian factions to Cairo to discuss Palestinian reconciliation, adding that the Islamic Jihad delegation that visited Cairo recently has discussed the reconciliation issue, adding, “surprising steps in this regard will be taken.”
