A protest was organized by pro-Palestine activists on Wednesday outside the Phoenix Cinema in London, which will be hosting the UK Premiere of the movie ‘Golda’, as part of the UK Jewish Film Festival.

According to a statement released by the UK-based group ‘One Democratic Palestine’, a copy of which was sent to The Palestine Chronicle, activists will be protesting outside the theater starting from 6:30pm.

The protest, organized in partnership with the advocacy group Palestine Online, will see activists “giving out flyers in order to educate those attending as to the real nature of Golda Meir’s rule of the land she had taken by force.”

Calls have been made to boycott the movie, Golda, starring Helen Mirren, for glorifying former Israeli Prime Minister Golda Meir.

While the movie celebrates Golda Meir’s leadership as Israel’s prime minister, organizers of the boycott accuse Meir of killing and displacing thousands of Palestinians during her tenure while denying the existence of the Palestinian people.
