A former member of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s security team has revealed allegations of internal conflicts and unusual conduct within the Netanyahu household, Al-Jazeera reported, citing an interview with the Hebrew newspaper Maariv.

Key Takeaways

  • Former security chief claims Yair Netanyahu confronted his father and was sent abroad afterward.
  • Sara Netanyahu allegedly wielded decisive influence over political decisions, including a plea deal.
  • Household behavior was known among staff but kept out of public view.
  • Netanyahu allegedly left restaurants without paying on several occasions.
  • Meetings with his daughter from a previous marriage were reportedly conducted secretly.

Altercation and Departure to the United States

Ami Dror, who guarded Netanyahu and his wife in the late 1990s, said a confrontation between the prime minister and his son, Yair, escalated to the point that security personnel had to intervene physically to separate them.

According to his account, Yair Netanyahu was then relocated to the United States shortly afterward. Dror suggested the move was intended to prevent further escalation and described the incident as part of broader tensions within the family.

The claim has also appeared in Israeli political debate. In February 2025, Yair Netanyahu filed a defamation lawsuit against Knesset member Naama Lazimi after she publicly alleged he had been sent abroad following an assault on his father.

Stealing Towels

Dror alleged that Sara Netanyahu’s role evolved from informal involvement to substantial influence over political decisions. He claimed she opposed a plea bargain in Netanyahu’s corruption trial because it would have required him to leave office.

He also described behavior he said was known among security staff, including taking hotel items — such as towels — during official trips. According to his account, these incidents remained within internal circles and were never publicly acknowledged.

Dror further said she believed her son Yair would eventually succeed his father politically, reflecting ambitions tied to the family’s future role in government. He added that she opposed a plea bargain in Netanyahu’s corruption trial because it would have required him to leave office.

Leaving Restaurants without Paying

The former security official also reportedly alleged that Netanyahu left restaurants without paying on more than one occasion. In one example, he said aides reassured the restaurant staff that payment would be arranged later, but it did not occur, and a member of the security team ultimately covered the bill.

He said similar incidents were repeated, presenting them as part of a pattern witnessed by personnel accompanying the prime minister.

Secret Meetings with His Daughter

Dror also described what he portrayed as complicated family relations involving Netanyahu’s daughter Noa from his first marriage. According to him, meetings between them were arranged discreetly so they would not be discovered by Sara Netanyahu.

He said the encounters required coordinated security arrangements and reflected longstanding tensions inside the household.

  1. The House of Netanyahu (like the House of Trump) – corrupt, malicious, kleptomania – are crumbling, like the “Israeli” so called “State”.

  2. The son is such a little pr!ck, you just want to smack him. People like this shouldn’t be allowed to breed. Eugenics was supposed to leave only the best…what happened? How many people who could have saved the world were killed because they weren’t good enough?
