Hospitals are out of space, morgues are overfilled, people are dying in their thousands, and whole families perished, but Gaza now has a different problem.

More than 1,000 are missing under the rubble of buildings that were destroyed by Israeli airstrikes in the besieged Gaza Strip, the Palestinian Civil Defense said on Sunday.

In a statement, the civil defense said that they know that many of those trapped are still alive but wounded, but they are simply unable to respond to the speed at which Palestinian homes are being destroyed by the Israeli military.

Gaza has been suffering under an Israeli siege imposed on the Strip in 2007 and it lacks the most basic equipment to deal with this kind of destruction, described by many international legal experts as a genocide.

According to data provided by the Palestinian Ministry of Health, the number of Palestinians killed in the Israeli war on Gaza has risen to 2,670, while 9,600 others have been wounded.

The latest numbers were provided in the evening of Sunday, October 15, but the death toll continues to increase rapidly.

It is estimated that the death toll on the first eight days of war has already exceeded the total number of deaths in the destructive 51-day Israeli war on Gaza in 2014.
