Senior Iranian official Kamal Kharrazi dies after a US-Israeli strike, amid ongoing war, leadership losses, and ceasefire negotiations.

Key Developments

Kamal Kharrazi dies from injuries after a US-Israeli strike on his Tehran residence a few days ago.

The attack killed his wife and targeted senior Iranian leadership figures.

Iran links assassination to broader war, retaliation, and ceasefire negotiations.

Targeted Strike

Dr. Kamal Kharrazi, head of Iran’s Strategic Council on Foreign Relations and former foreign minister, has died after sustaining injuries in a US-Israeli airstrike targeting his home in Tehran on April 1.

The strike, carried out during the ongoing bombardment of the Iranian capital, also killed his wife. Kharrazi remained wounded for several days before being pronounced dead on Thursday night, according to sources close to him.

The attack is part of a broader aggression launched on February 28, in which the United States and Israel targeted senior Iranian leadership figures, military commanders, and civilian infrastructure.

Who was Kharrazi?

Kharrazi was a central figure in Iran’s political and diplomatic establishment, holding key positions over several decades following the 1979 Islamic Revolution.

He served as Iran’s foreign minister from August 1997 to August 2005 and later headed the Strategic Council on Foreign Relations, an advisory body established in 2006 that reports directly to Iran’s leadership and provides strategic guidance on foreign policy.

He was also a member of the Expediency Discernment Council, placing him among the most influential policymakers in Iran’s governing structure.

The killing comes amid a broader US-Israeli war of aggression, which also resulted in the assassination of the Leader of the Islamic Revolution, Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei, and other senior officials.

In response, Iranian Armed Forces launched attacks on American and Israeli positions across the region. Iranian accounts state that these operations inflicted significant damage and disrupted the initial objectives of Washington and Tel Aviv.

On April 8, Iran’s Supreme National Security Council declared that the confrontation resulted in a “historic victory,” asserting that the United States was ultimately forced to accept negotiation terms.

Kharrazi’s death adds to mounting losses within Iran’s senior leadership since the start of the war.

  1. My US government has been hanging out with the Jewish Nazis for too long. They’ve become infected by Judaism and Zionism: both are a plague upon this Earth.
