An Israeli drone strike killed a Palestinian civilian and wounded others in northern Gaza, as medics and witnesses reported continued ceasefire violations across the Strip.

A Palestinian man was killed, and several others were wounded on Thursday after an Israeli drone struck a group of civilians in the northern Gaza Strip, according to medical sources, marking another violation of the ceasefire agreement.

The strike targeted civilians in the Tel al-Dhahab area of Beit Lahia. Medical teams said the number of injured had not yet been confirmed.

Earlier the same day, two Palestinians, including a woman, were shot by Israeli occupation forces in the Abu Halawa area of Jabalia, also in northern Gaza, medics reported.

Eyewitnesses additionally reported Israeli airstrikes east of Gaza City and in the southern cities of Khan Yunis and Rafah.

The latest escalation follows an incident on Wednesday in which an Israeli army officer was wounded in a bomb explosion in Rafah. Hamas denied any involvement, stating that the blast occurred in an area fully under Israeli military control.

In a statement, Hamas said the explosion occurred in an area fully controlled by Israeli forces, “where no Palestinian is present or working.”

“We have previously warned about the remnants of war in this area and others,” the group said, adding that it bears no responsibility for the zone since the implementation of the ceasefire agreement.

Hamas said the unexploded ordnance had been planted by the occupation itself.

The group called on mediators to compel Israel to implement the ceasefire fully and to “avoid fabricating pretexts to continue escalation and sabotage the agreement,” reaffirming its commitment to the truce.

Israel has repeatedly violated the ceasefire that ended a two-year genocidal war on Gaza, which has killed more than 71,000 Palestinians, mostly women and children, and wounded over 171,000 since October 2023.

The Gaza government media office said that since the ceasefire came into effect, at least 411 Palestinians have been killed and 1,112 others injured in Israeli attacks.

  1. Unexploded ordnance in the IDF-occupied areas of Gaza are “Evolution in Action”, or the IDF carrying out delayed Hanibal Directive actions. If they’re stupid enough to drop 20 000 Kg bombs in confied residential areas, and stupid enough to barge right in and start driving over everything, well, when the ordnance explodes and blows them up, they’re only reaping what they sowed. The longer this goes on, the more the IDF deserves the Darwin Award.
