Abdul-Malik al-Houthi condemned Israel’s airstrike in Sanaa that killed Prime Minister Ahmed al-Rahwi and vowed continued resistance in support of Palestine.

Ansarallah leader Abdul-Malik al-Houthi announced on Sunday that last Thursday’s Israeli attack on Yemen killed a number of ministers and government employees during a workshop for the Government of Change and Construction.

In a televised speech, al-Houthi said, “The enemy’s latest strike will not affect our country’s position, whether at the official or popular levels,” stressing that “the Israeli enemy poses a threat to the entire nation… and even targets children, women, and defenseless civilians.”

He added that “the enemy’s legacy is its criminality, as it kills the people of Palestine, Lebanon, Syria, Iraq, and Iran,” affirming that “everything we offer for the sake of God is not a loss.”

Al-Houthi emphasized that the horrific crimes committed by the Israeli enemy daily in Palestine and Gaza require a firm stance, noting that the enemy will be confronted “in all arenas of confrontation: politically, militarily, economically, and in the media.”

He affirmed that “our path to supporting the Palestinian people is ongoing, steady, and escalating.”

The Ansarallah leader warned that “if we ignore the enemy’s desecration of our sanctities, our nation will become powerless, failing, and easily controlled.” He continued, “We cannot stand idly by while the enemy commits crimes of starvation against two million Muslims in the Gaza Strip.”

The Ansarallah-appointed prime minister, Ahmed al-Rahwi, and several ministers were killed in an Israeli airstrike on Sanaa on Thursday. This is the first time Ansarallah leaders have been assassinated since Israeli airstrikes on Yemen began in July 2024.

The group said in a statement that al-Rahwi and his fellow ministers “were targeted by the treacherous, criminal Israeli enemy during a routine workshop held by the government to evaluate its activities and performance over the past year of its work on Thursday afternoon.”

The statement added that other officials who took part in the workshop sustained moderate and serious injuries and are receiving medical care.

Ansarallah vowed retaliation, with Mahdi al-Mashat, head of the group’s Supreme Political Council, declaring: “We pledge to God, the people, and the families of the martyrs and wounded that we will take revenge and continue building our armed forces and developing their capabilities.”

He warned, “I advise companies operating in the occupied entity to leave before it’s too late.”

Ansarallah has been carrying out ongoing attacks on Israel with ballistic missiles and drones, as well as targeting commercial vessels linked to Israel. The group says these operations are in solidarity with the Palestinian people, who are being subjected to ongoing Israeli genocide in Gaza.

Since October 7, 2023, Israel, with full American support, has waged a genocidal war on the Gaza Strip, carrying out killings, starvation, destruction, and forced displacement, while ignoring international calls and rulings from the International Court of Justice to halt its operations.

This war has resulted in the deaths of more than 63,000 people, over 160,000 Palestinians injured — most of them children and women — more than 9,000 missing, hundreds of thousands displaced, and a famine that killed 317 Palestinians, including 121 children, according to data from the Palestinian Ministry of Health.
