Israeli occupation forces killed at least 11 Palestinians on Wednesday in a new escalation across the Gaza Strip, using live ammunition, artillery fire, and armed drones, according to medical sources in the enclave.
Hospitals in central and southern Gaza confirmed that the dead included three children and one woman, as attacks struck multiple residential areas amid ongoing ceasefire violations.
In central Gaza, a source at Al-Aqsa Martyrs Hospital said three Palestinians, including a child, were killed by Israeli artillery shelling east of Deir al-Balah. Three more members of the same family were killed in a separate artillery strike east of Al-Bureij refugee camp.
In one of the deadliest incidents of the day, three journalists were killed in the Netzarim area south of Gaza City after an Israeli drone targeted a vehicle they were traveling in. Gaza’s Ministry of Health confirmed that the journalists were working with the Egyptian Committee for the Relief of Gaza.
Nasser Hospital in Khan Yunis received the bodies of two Palestinians, one of them a child, who were shot by Israeli occupation forces in Bani Suheila, east of the city, and in the Al-Mawasi area southwest of Khan Younis.
Health Ministry Director-General Munir al-Barsh said Israeli forces continue to “deliberately kill Palestinians” across Gaza, noting that journalists have increasingly become direct targets.
Throughout the day, Israeli occupation forces carried out additional airstrikes and demolition operations. Israeli troops blew up residential buildings east of Beit Lahia in northern Gaza and shelled areas east of Khan Yunis and Al-Bureij. An Israeli helicopter also opened fire near Deir al-Balah.
A day earlier, Israeli forces had demolished residential structures within areas under their control southeast of Khan Yunis, continuing a pattern of destruction inside zones covered by the ceasefire agreement.
Ceasefire in Name Only as Cold and Israeli Fire Claim Lives in Gaza
Ceasefire Violations Continue
Hamas said in a statement released Tuesday that Israeli occupation forces have carried out nearly daily violations since the ceasefire was announced. According to the statement, hundreds of Palestinians have been killed during the ceasefire period, the majority of them civilians, including children and women.
The movement said most victims were targeted inside residential areas and outside the so-called “yellow line,” in what it described as systematic and deliberate breaches of the agreement. Hamas also reported widespread demolitions, arbitrary arrests, and attacks on fishermen and civilians.
Humanitarian Crisis Deepens
The renewed Israeli violence comes amid a worsening humanitarian crisis. The UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs said thousands of families are facing harsh winter conditions, with an urgent need for shelter, heating, and medical supplies.
Gaza’s Health Ministry confirmed the death of another infant due to severe cold, raising the number of children who have died from exposure this winter. Medical officials also warned of a sharp rise in deaths linked to influenza and untreated chronic illnesses, driven by widespread malnutrition and the collapse of healthcare services.
Dr. Mohammed Abu Salmiya, director of Al-Shifa Medical Complex, said hospitals are facing critical shortages of cancer medications, dialysis supplies, and treatments for chronic diseases, warning that preventable deaths are increasing daily.
Since October 7, 2023, Israeli occupation forces have waged a genocidal war on Gaza, killing more than 71,000 Palestinians and injuring over 171,000, the majority women and children. Nearly 90 percent of Gaza’s civilian infrastructure has been destroyed, with the United Nations estimating reconstruction costs at more than $70 billion.
Despite the declared ceasefire, Israeli attacks, restrictions on aid, and large-scale demolitions continue, leaving Gaza’s civilian population trapped between ongoing violence and deepening humanitarian collapse.
