Iran said its ongoing war extends beyond self-defense, framing it as part of a broader commitment to supporting Palestine, particularly Gaza.

Key Developments

  • Iran links its military campaign to support for Palestinians, especially in Gaza.
  • Tehran says its confrontation is both defensive and tied to the “oppressed” across the region.
  • Officials reaffirm long-term commitment to Palestine as a central political and ideological cause.

Iran Links War to Palestinian Cause

Iran has explicitly tied its ongoing confrontation with the United States and Israel to the Palestinian struggle, presenting its military actions as part of a wider regional commitment.

In a message addressed to Muslims across the region, Ibrahim Zolfaghari, spokesman for the Khatam al-Anbiya Central Headquarters, stressed that Iran’s position is not limited to defending its own territory.

Instead, he framed the war as encompassing support for Palestinians, particularly those in Gaza, placing the conflict within a broader narrative of regional resistance and solidarity.

Zolfaghari emphasized that the Palestinian cause remains deeply embedded in Iran’s political identity, describing it as a matter of justice that concerns the entire Islamic nation.

‘Not Only Defense’

According to Zolfaghari, Iran’s current military posture must be understood in a wider context that goes beyond retaliation or national defense.

He indicated that Tehran views its actions as part of a broader struggle tied to what it described as oppression across the region, with Palestinians at the center of that framework.

This framing reflects a consistent Iranian narrative that positions its regional role as both strategic and ideological, linking military operations to long-standing political commitments.

Palestine as a Central Axis

The message underscored that Palestine is not viewed as a secondary or symbolic issue, but rather as a central axis in Iran’s regional outlook.

Zolfaghari reiterated that the Palestinian cause has remained a defining element of Iranian political discourse since the Islamic Revolution, maintaining its relevance across decades of regional change.

He stressed that Palestinians are not alone in their confrontation, reaffirming Tehran’s commitment to continued support “in all circumstances,” and until what he described as the restoration of rights.

Full Statement

“In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful. To our Muslim brothers in the region, and to our loved ones in the land of Palestine, especially the patient Gaza, today we address you from the Islamic Republic of Iran with a sincere word emanating from the heart; a word of loyalty, love, and brotherhood.

“The Islamic nation and the Palestinian people have always been alive in the conscience of the Iranian people. Since the early days of the victory of the revolution, the name of Palestine has remained a banner of a right that will never fall, and of a people that is not exhausted by hardships, no matter how great, nor is their will broken by events, no matter how severe, firmly rooted in our consciousness.

“We tell you: Today we are not only fighting in defense of ourselves, nor only to seek revenge for our martyrs, but also in defense of the oppression of the Islamic nation and the Palestinian people and their martyrs, who have a firm place in this situation.

“Palestine has never been the cause of one people only, but it was and will remain the cause of dignity, right and justice, and the cause of the entire Islamic nation.

“O nation of Islam, and O people of Palestine, do not think that you are alone in the arena of confrontation against the usurping Zionist entity; we are with you, on a covenant that will not change and a position that will not weaken.

“You are the people of return and dignity; a people who know how to be patient, how to persevere, and how to preserve their rights generation after generation.

“We pledge to stand firmly by your side on this path, until justice is restored to its rightful owners, and dear Palestine returns free and proud to its true owners.

“Peace, mercy and blessings of God be upon you.”

Abu Obeida’s Statement

The message by Ibrahim Zolfaghari comes one day after a statement by Abu Obeida, the military spokesperson of the Al-Qassam Brigades, who explicitly linked Iranian strikes to Gaza and the broader Palestinian struggle.

‘Advanced Line of Defense’: Abu Obeida Praises Iranian Strikes, Links Them to Gaza

In a statement on Saturday, Abu Obeida described Iran as an “advanced line of defense” for the region, framing its missile strikes as a direct response not only to aggression against Iran, but also to the genocidal war on Gaza.

Abu Obeida emphasized that Iran’s actions form part of a wider confrontation with Israel, reinforcing the idea that multiple fronts, from Gaza to Iran, are interconnected within the same conflict framework.
