Iran experienced a nationwide internet blackout on Thursday as protests continued into their twelfth day and tensions escalated.

Internet monitoring group NetBlocks reported on Thursday that Iran is experiencing a complete nationwide internet blackout, as US President Donald Trump warned Tehran against using force to suppress ongoing protests.

In a statement published on social media, NetBlocks said that “live data indicates that Iran is now experiencing a complete nationwide internet blackout,” adding that the disruption follows “a series of digital censorship measures targeting protesters across the country, obstructing people’s right to communicate at a critical moment.”

Speaking in an interview with conservative journalist Hugh Hewitt, Trump said the US would respond forcefully if Iranian authorities resorted to lethal violence against demonstrators.

“They’ve been told very strongly — even more strongly than I’m speaking to you right now — that if they do that, they’re going to have to pay hell,” Trump reportedly said.

Meanwhile, Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian called for restraint as protests entered their twelfth day, amid reports of clashes in multiple areas.

In a statement published on his official website, Pezeshkian urged security forces to exercise “maximum restraint,” stressing that “any violent or coercive behavior must be avoided,” and calling for dialogue and engagement with public demands.

Earlier, Iranian media reported that a police officer was stabbed to death during unrest near Tehran, as demonstrations over rising living costs continued.

According to Fars News Agency, the officer, identified as Shahin Dehghan, was killed in the city of Malard, west of Tehran, while attempting to contain unrest in the area. Authorities said investigations are underway to identify those responsible.

With his death, the number of security personnel killed since the protests began has risen to four, according to official statements.

  1. IRAN SHOULD shut dowm the internet and all phone service as well !!!!… though one IRANIAN INTERNET SITE is back online….it is only a TINY minority who are protesting… in cities of MILLIONS, the protesters are negligible… they are isolated groups with no widespread support… those inciting to riot are TRAITORS and APOSTATES and they MUST BE CRUSHED !!!!… Iran must also maintain trigger alertness for WAR … it is the usa pattern : sanctions till de-stabilization then military attack… IT WILL FAIL AS IT JUST DID IN VENEZUELA !!!!

  2. It’s very fitting that Trump is Jewish now. He’s just as scummy as the Israeli Jews are. Judaism is a mental illness. All religists are literally delusional.

  3. The nationwide blackout described here raises serious concerns about human rights and freedom of expression. When people lose access to the internet, they also lose the ability to document events and protect themselves from misinformation. This makes it harder for the world to know what is truly happening on the ground.
