Trump urged regional states to join the Abraham Accords after earlier discussions with Arab leaders on Iran negotiations.
Key Developments
- Trump called on regional states to join the Abraham Accords after discussions on an emerging Iran agreement.
- The statement follows reports that Arab leaders were surprised by similar requests during a recent conference call.
- Saudi Arabia continues to maintain that normalization requires a pathway toward Palestinian statehood.
Call for Normalization
US President Donald Trump called on several Arab and Muslim-majority countries to join the Abraham Accords, linking the proposal to ongoing negotiations with Iran.
In a lengthy post on Truth Social on Monday, Trump said negotiations with Iran were “proceeding nicely” and argued that regional states should join normalization agreements with Israel following any settlement.
“After all the work done by the United States to try and pull this very complex puzzle together, it should be mandatory that all of these countries, at a minimum, simultaneously, sign onto the Abraham Accords,” Trump wrote.
He specifically referenced Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Pakistan, Türkiye, Egypt and Jordan, while noting that the United Arab Emirates and Bahrain were already signatories to the agreements.
Trump also suggested that countries declining to join “should not be part of this deal,” adding that Saudi Arabia and Qatar should immediately sign onto the accords.
The US president further claimed that regional leaders had expressed openness to eventually including Iran itself in the agreements, should Tehran reach an agreement with Washington and recognize Israel.

Earlier Reports
Trump’s public remarks followed reports that he had raised the issue during a conference call held Saturday with regional leaders.
Israel’s Channel 12 first reported that Trump discussed the possibility of expanding the Abraham Accords while speaking with leaders from Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Qatar, Pakistan, Türkiye, Egypt, Jordan and Bahrain.
Axios later cited two US officials with direct knowledge of the call who said Trump expressed expectations that countries without diplomatic relations with Israel would eventually normalize ties.
According to Axios, Trump also expressed hope that Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu would participate in future discussions.
Quds News Network reported that participating leaders voiced support for Trump’s efforts regarding the emerging agreement with Iran despite differing regional positions.
Reports also indicated that several countries, particularly Saudi Arabia, Qatar and Pakistan, reacted with surprise when Trump raised the proposal.
US officials cited by Axios said a period of silence followed before Trump joked by asking whether participants remained on the call.

Saudi Position
Despite renewed US pressure, reports suggest substantial obstacles remain regarding regional normalization.
According to reports cited by Quds News Network, Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman had previously signaled openness toward normalization with Israel but adopted a more cautious approach over the past year.
Saudi officials continue to maintain that any normalization agreement requires a clear and irreversible pathway toward the establishment of a Palestinian state.
US and Israeli officials cited in the reports reportedly believe Riyadh is unlikely to take significant steps before Israeli elections and before the formation of a new government.

Arabs should be wary of any agreement with Israel or the U.S. They are not reputed to be honorable partners. Arabs that capitulate will end up as a target for Iran and a glutton for U.S. $$$.
” normalization ”
Trump started this whole thing because he’s a scumbag and accepted bribes from the shady Israelis. Iran should never back down, they did nothing wrong. As usual, they’re the scapegoat. It has to stop.
And if someone pulls off an actual Trump assassination, not fake like literally all of them have been, it will be the Israelis, not Iran.
Normalization? As though israel is going to exist for much longer. LMAO
