The Mouse that Wants to Be an Elephant: Israel and the Steroids of US Aid
PALESTINE CHRONICLE: ***Whoever wins, this is not going to affect the slow and steady degradation of Israel’s standing in the US, accompanied by ultimately steady and increasing cuts in the steroids of arms supplies and economic aid.***
The obese, sweaty Ben-Gvir, physically more repulsive than Goering, more bloodthirsty than Himmler, is now demanding that 30-40 Palestinians be killed every day because they are “not worthy of life,” a phrase that comes out of Nazi Germany and, in reality, sums up the genocide in Gaza.
In Israel’s case, the Palestinians are not worthy of life because they are human animals or the insects and snakes that Zionist rabbis, politicians and generals have described them as being over decades. Once put in that category, it is easier to kill them, to squash them, to bury them beneath tons of concrete so they die unseen and alone in the dark.
Bishop Desmond Tutu used to say that Zionism was worse than apartheid, but no one should hesitate in going further and comparing it to Nazism. Many of the Nazis were gentlemen compared to murderous trash like Ben Gvir and the gangsters around him in the cabal known as the ‘government’ of Israel.

Ramaphosa Faces Scrutiny over Meeting Family of South African Serving in Israeli Army

Following the outrage caused by President Cyril Ramaphosa’s decision to meet the family of the late Captain Daniel Perez, a South African-born citizen who served illegally in the Israeli Defense Force, EFF MP Carl Niehaus has submitted a series of questions in Parliament, seeking answers and accountability.
Earlier, in his critical commentary published by Media Review Network, Niehaus took issue with the South African government’s active role in facilitating the repatriation of Perez’s remains, calling it an act of profound hypocrisy that must be condemned without reservation.
“It is a betrayal of the law, a betrayal of South Africa’s stated solidarity with the Palestinian people, and a betrayal of the very principles the government claims to uphold when it speaks of justice and opposition to genocide.”
Daniel Perez was a South African citizen. He was born in Johannesburg, raised in Glenhazel, and later moved to Israel with his family. He served as a tank commander and platoon commander in the IDF’s 7th Armored Brigade.

Iran’s Nuclear Shield: Why Deterrence Has Become a Matter of Life or Death
PALESTINE CHRONICLE: ***While American foreign policy relies on aggressive military posturing, economic strangulation, and unconditional alignment with Israel, the structural incentives for Iran to surrender its nuclear potential will remain non-existent.***
In international relations, security is not an absolute. It is a relative calculation.
For the Islamic Republic of Iran, a nuclear deterrence posture is a reasonable, if not necessary, response to decades of jingoism and the ongoing war instigated by Israel and the United States.
On Sunday, August 9, 2026, during commemoration of the 81st anniversary of the US atomic bombing of Nagasaki, the city’s current mayor called nuclear weapons an “absolute evil” that can never coexist with humanity.
That has been the position of Iran’s leadership since Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ruhollah Khomeini (1979-1989) refused to authorize the use of chemical weapons during the Iran-Iraq War, citing Islamic principles, and when his successor, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei (1989-2026), officially voiced a religious prohibition (haram) against nuclear weapons in 2003.
The relentless, unprovoked US-Israel air wars, culminating in the devastating February 28, 2026, missile strikes that assassinated the Supreme Leader and his family, as well as dozens of senior military and security officials, have shattered any remaining illusions of diplomatic restraint. Every air strike, targeted assassination, and expansion of the war has intensified a growing consensus across Iran that the ultimate guarantor of national survival is nuclear deterrence.

The Search for a Decolonial Way Out: The Electoral Impasse Between the River and the Sea
PALESTINE CHRONICLE: ***The strategic question is whether Palestinians can enter these different electoral arenas without losing sight of the larger struggle: the struggle to dismantle the structures of colonial domination.***
It is difficult, and even unacceptable, for a Palestinian to view the elections to be held separately in Israel and the 67-occupied territories in the coming months outside the context of the monstrous Zionist regime, especially following its ongoing genocidal crime.
These elections carry deep paradoxes, contradictions, and existential questions: how can Palestinians reconcile their understanding of the genocidal regime and the constraints it imposes on the electoral process with their immediate need for protection from an unprecedented level of barbarism being perpetrated—not as a reaction, but as a strategy to eliminate Palestinians politically and physically?
The approach of boycotting the elections, and potentially deepening Israel’s international illegitimacy, may have been valid and legitimate years ago. Today, however, it could seem to many Palestinians like a luxury—and even counterproductive. Participation in elections is driven by the fact that avenues for political mobilization have drastically shrunk, as the Israeli regime increasingly applies many of the repressive tactics routinely used against Palestinians in the West Bank to Palestinians inside Israel who hold Israeli citizenship since 1948.

Burning America’s Cards One by One: What is Iran’s Strategy? – Analysis
PALESTINE CHRONICLE: ***Iran is systematically targeting US regional assets and alliances, tightening pressure as Washington confronts mounting military, logistical and political strains.***
While the US Trump administration insists that the very much closed Strait of Hormuz is in fact open and grapples with domestic pushback against his war losses, Iran has been busy pursuing a military strategy that is placing a chokehold on their opposition.
Although the ongoing regional war has been experiencing a lull in direct confrontations between the Islamic Republic of Iran and the US-Israeli alliance, a series of other fronts have become the focus of Tehran’s recent efforts.
Contrary to what you would be led to believe by the corporate media, Iran’s ballistic missile and drone fire has not ceased. Instead, officials belonging to the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) have made it clear that there is no ceasefire in effect and that their operations are therefore being carried out in a coordinated fashion.

Anas Al-Sharif One Year Later: The Systematic Killing of Palestine’s Journalists
PALESTINE CHRONICLE: ***Journalists are killed in their homes with their families, in marked press cars, while live-streaming from hospital courtyards, while sheltering in media offices that Israeli officials had been informed were civilian.***
One year ago this week, the Israeli military killed Anas Al-Sharif. He was a young Palestinian journalist working in Gaza, one of the many who continued to report under bombardment, displacement, and the constant knowledge that the camera itself had become a target. His death was not an accident of war. It was one act in the ongoing genocide against the Palestinian people in Gaza — a genocide that has included, as a deliberate and central component, the systematic elimination of those who document it.
Al-Sharif’s killing joins a list that has grown so long it has become a statistic rather than a series of individual lives. Since October 2023, close to three hundred Palestinian and now Lebanese journalists and media workers have been killed by Israeli forces. The Committee to Protect Journalists documents at least 209 killed by Israel in Gaza and in Israeli detention centers. Palestinian press associations and the International Federation of Journalists put the figure higher, in the mid-to-high 260s. These were not combatants. They were reporters, camera operators, producers, and fixers — many of them wearing clearly marked press vests, working for local outlets or international networks, trying to show the world what was happening to their cities, their schools, their mosques, their hospitals, and their families as the genocide unfolded.
This is not merely the deadliest conflict for journalists in the modern era. According to analyses from Brown University’s Costs of War project, more journalists have been killed in Gaza than in the US Civil War, World War I, World War II, the Korean War, the Vietnam War (including Cambodia and Laos), the wars in the former Yugoslavia, and the post-9/11 war in Afghanistan — combined. The comparison is not rhetorical flourish. It is a measure of the scale of a genocidal campaign that has treated the press as an enemy to be erased. What took place across the major industrial wars of the twentieth century, across continents and decades, has been surpassed in a single strip of land in less than three years. That fact alone should end any pretense that these deaths are the ordinary hazards of covering combat.

Israel’s Greatest Fear is FPV Drones in the Hands of West Bank Fighters
***If the West Bank resistance gets their hands on FPV drones, this means small teams can run covert operations that target settlements and checkpoints.***
Israeli army-backed settler militia assaults across the occupied West Bank are driving renewed speculation that the unbearable violence could lead to a significant escalation. Although there has clearly been an effort by the Israeli authorities to drum up violence, they also understand that there is a major risk involved in continuing on this trajectory.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s Defense Minister, Israel Katz, has ordered his military to draw up plans to officially hand over control of Israeli illegal West Bank settlers to the police. This would make hardline Security Minister Itamar Ben Gvir responsible for managing security matters in the occupied territory, a man who just last month advocated for turning West Bank cities into Gaza.
Previously, the majority of Israel’s efforts at ethnically cleansing the territory were focused on what is known as Area C, constituting roughly 60% of the occupied West Bank. Area C is under full Israeli military occupation and is home to over 500,000 illegal settlers, whose “security” is provided by the Army. Around 300,000 Palestinians also live in this zone, created by the controversial Oslo Accords signed between Israel and the Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO) in the early to mid-1990s. The total Palestinian population of the West Bank is currently around 3.5 million.
This system has been in place for decades now, during which the Palestinian Authority (PA) was supposed to have security and civil control in Area A (18% of the land) and civil control in Area B (22% of the land). What this enabled over time was for Israel to create a system, working hand in glove with their PA allies, to divide the occupied territory into dozens of isolated enclaves that were separated from one another.
